People keep mentioning Foreman v Ali. Def can’t be that one as there is a ton of controversy behind that great win. The weather, the ropes being loosened, mystery bottle etc

There are numerous reports and recordings of the crowd with whom Ali was fraternizing, shouting "Ali booma ye." There are numerous reports of Foreman locking himself in a hotel room and wanting to get it over with as quickly as possible. It's hardly surprising.

The fight took place in extreme heat, which greatly favored Ali's style and was terrible for Foreman's. The loose ropes Ali was leaning on are a fact, because you surely don't think it's photoshopped? Furthermore, the tactic of leaning on the ropes is illegal—check the rules!

If a clear favorite loses, it's usually, and actually always, due to extraordinary circumstances. It could be an injury, lack of preparation, a unique style mismatch, sometimes a lucky punch.

If Foreman crushes Frazier and Norton: style made the fight. If Ali crushes Foreman – oh, the better fighter simply won.
No one has yet explained this beyond double standards.

    Liston-Patterson I.
    Lewis-Rahman II.
    Marciano-LaStarza II.

Are three good examples I say.

I'm not convinced by Jungle shouts. That was all just too crazy to be perfect. Ali could have done with another fight before taking on Frazier I feel - that seems reasonable? Schmeling was clearly past his very best for Louis II. It's hard, i said this last month, it's very very hard.

Spinks had bad knees, was scared shitless, was old and a blown up light heavy and then cashed out. I don't necessarily agree but those are some excuses heard around them there hills.

What about Walcott's KO win over Charles or Robinson's KO over Fulmer?

Usyk - Joshua is unironically up there for lack of excuses. Prime heavyweight champion who was bigger, A side and on home turf lost to a smaller, older, lighter hitting fighter who came to away soil and won an uncontroversial decision. I can't think of a proper reason that even attempts to excuse Joshua's loss in anyway. That version of AJ would've still beat nearly any other heavy at that point in the division too.

On face value, both Foreman and Frazier were undefeated when they first met.

Of course Joe was arguably past his best (particularly due to the wear/tear of the FOTC) and perhaps not in the best of shape. Probably a bit complacent also.

But…it was still as comprehensive a victory that anyone could hope for with the strong implication that, even in an absolute best vs absolute best scenario, George would still do away with Joe in similar or very close to similar fashion.

I mean, even thereafter, along with the further accrual of damage Joe received in the first Foreman fight, Frazier was still somewhat viable and NO ONE ever came close to doing what George did to poor old Joe.

His bad knees beat Holmes twice and ran undefeated through a gauntlet of light heavies. Being scared shitless is not extraneous to the match. It is integral to the bout. It is part of the conflict.
