Let's say Bob Satterfield fights Marciano in 1954 instead of Ezzard Charles. Could Satterfield with his punching power upset the Marciano apple cart?

You dont want to match a chinny go for broke banger like Satterfield with durable, volume punching banger like Marciano. It wouldnt be if Marciano stops him but WHEN. Satterfield was stopped a bunch of times well before the fight was half over by fighters nowhere near as dangerous as Marciano. Id put my life savings on Satterfield not making it past the fourth round.

To be fair he also beat Harold Johnson, Nino Valdez, Bob Baker, John Holman, Cleveland Williams etc. man was the definition of glass cannon. But I pick Marciano for an early KO in what would have been a great three rounder

But Marciano beat better guys without losing to a Middleweight. So...

I don't think the fighters that Rocky beat are that far ahead of the ones Bob beat... are they even far at all?

Rich the fight historian has an excellent albeit sad at times video on Bob Satterfield. I seen him knocked out flat, brutally, real bad a few times. I think he was koed a dozen times. Marciano would find his chin sooner than later and land that right hand

How in the hell did he beat Harold Johnson? A lucky punch?

A Hagler/Hearns type war Satterfield has a few moments early maybe rocking Marciano or scoring a flash knockdown but gets taken out early in a brave effort after a short exciting war.

Marciano would have steamrolled Johnson as well.

Archie Moore alone beat ValdezX2, JohnsonX3 and Baker, and Satterfield himself.

    Charles beat Moore 3 times.

    Walcott 2-2 with Charles.

Yeah...Marciano's competition head, neck shoulders and chest ahead of Satterfield's.
