Baer would be the obvious fave here but could peak Williams, the guy who gave Liston such a good trot at his best spring an upset? Baer has the better record but is hardly a ball of mad skill.

Baer has to soak up some punishing shots from Williams and at times looks shaken .But Max the more robust ,smashes Williams in the late round's.

Depends on what Baer turns up. The Max who fought Braddock might be in serious trouble, Williams had a good punch.

Williams has a bit more of an all round game both have good power but it probably comes down to Baer's sounder chin.
I'll take Baer to prevail sometime in the second half of the fight, but his chin would be tested.

    Cleveland never be champion..

    Even the different era..

    I guess Baer by knockout..

Since both are slugger / puncher

Williams is 10x the boxer Baer is. The only thing is that I'm not sure how good William's chin is; I haven't seen much of him. Even a guy like Baer is going to land his share of punches and if Williams can't take the incoming so well he's not going to win.

I think this would be the deciding factor.

I have nothing but respect for a good pro like Cleveland Williams. Always brave. Always entertaining. Good value up to a level.

I just don’t think he ever could have made an impact at championship level.

However, this would still be a very explosive fight. A real great matchup of wild swashbuckling entertainment resulting in a knockout win for Mr Baer.

Good match. And I like this one partly because even though they fought in separate eras their careers weren’t 2,000 years apart like some of these other fantasy fights.

Williams and Baer were comparably sized at 6’2” and their best weights were within the 209-212 range. Both showed they could go fifteen rounds. Both had extreme power. While both men were stopped in their careers it’s likely that Baer had the sturdier chin. It still took a pretty good hitter to stop Cleveland when he was prime however. Williams was the better boxer.

I’m leaning towards Bear to pull off a knockout win at some point by virtue of his superior durability. But a Williams victory isn’t impossible. In either case I can see an exciting match for the fans in which a lot of meaningful exchanges are made.

With two power brokers the one with the better skill (in this case, by magnitudes) delivers his power first 9 out of 10 times. Williams annihilates Baer.
