The hierarchy of power in the Boxing Universe is about to change.

This is every bit as delusional as when Al Haymon was talking about doing the same thing with a "PBC championship".

Get it through your head, Dana: boxing fans don't like you and will never accept you.

Did Al Haymon have the Saudi Wealth fund backing his venture? It's only delusional when you don't have massive money backing you.

They can dump all the money they want into this...myself, and countless other true boxing fans, will refuse to ever in our lifetime recognize the "Zuffa champion" above the ABC's (flawed as they are)

Explain to me how its going to change. From my understanding, their plan is to pay fighters less, like in UFC. Good luck on that. They can overpay for 20 years to drive out the competition, and there is so much talent and money in boxing worldwide, that the second they try to make this a UFC-type slave league, a dozen new promotors will pop right back up using the old model.

I predict Turkyi loses a lot of money, and leaves boxing.

Worth bugger all without the other bodies recognizing it, seriously the youtuber belt or whatever its called is more legit as it's actually clearly a belt for entertainers/non-boxers.

Any self respecting boxer won't care about this nonsense, and if anyone of their fighters starts to show a bit of skill or get a name for themselves, you can be sure they will jump ship first chance they get.

I'm sure you won't be alone in that sentiment. But doesn't Turki own the Ring belt now? I can see them using that to bring some perceived legitimacy than just a "Zuffa belt".

ABC belt's are far more legit than this scam belt because a promoter controlling rankings, & awarding championships is a conflict of interest

That's how you end up with a 2-1 Brock Lesnar (1-1 in UFC) getting a title shot

If multiple ABC belts are a problem, then promoter belts will just add to the confusion with the added caveat that they won't even have a pretense of neutrality

The other thing is that at least the ABC belts can be unified but this worthless trinket has no use beyond Zuffa Boxing because they refuse to co-promote

And don't forget that in addition to this, the big four, the IBO, the Ring Belt, the WBA regular, and any claims to "linear" or "interum," there is also now the IBA Pro title.

It's like Yogi Berra's famous statement on Yankee Stadium, "nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded."

Listen guys, Dana can go on and on about this, but his "Zuffa belt" will never have the legitimacy that a true belt like Charlie Z-Money's UBF "Underground Boxing Federation" belt will have. It's just facts and y'all will have to accept it.

The best pro boxers aren't going to sign contracts for half used gift cards and a lifetime supply of Reebok gear.

I don't see this being a success. UFC has the brand recognition in MMA and a lack of competitors. They've also only had one star since Khabib retired.

Yes, yes he did. He had a massive war chest, its why they held over 40 events every year across multiple platforms. Its why they signed half of the talent pool from SHO and HBO onto PBC, and also went after international stars who did not fight on American networks(Marco Huck and whatnot).

And there are already rumors about money problems with the Saudi boxing venture. They wont endlessly pour money into boxing just to prop it up in the US, while only occasionally getting some events in Saudi Arabia. The whole point is to get tourism in to those sandy venues.

The IMF estimates Saudi Arabia´s fiscal breakeven point to be around 90$ per barrel of oil, which is much higher than the current oil prices. This means that the Saudi gov is already cutting back on some expenditures. So, just like with PBC, TKO Boxing will likely eventually run out of investment money, and will then have to stand on its own.

Makes so much sense. While he's at it get rid of all the stupid weight 3 pound weight classes . Make the rounds either 13 or 11 rounds so there's less likely hood of draws. And, NO titles for catchweights; you have to fight at the division limits.

Am I mistaken? Isn't Zuffa effectively supposed to be a sort of "proving ground" for younger talents to earn a spot on the Riyadh and Ring promoted cards?

So what you are saying is that Zuffa is grooming young fighters to fight for a bag of popcorn and a box of complimentary airline peanuts that Dana found in his back pocket after landing?
