I will get **** for this... but Tapia is overrated, he is not on the same level here... imo Tapia gets a lot of love due to his personality, the crazyness and etc, as a fighter I fail to see him in the same level as someone really great like Gomez.

Broadly speaking, I think Gomez would swarm him and Tapia wouldn´t be able to tame Gomez with his good elusiveness..

Wilfredo KO 8 — he’s a force of nature at 122 and Tapia’s legs might buy him a few rounds but he doesn’t have the ammunition to keep Bazooka honest.

I love Johnny Tapia but just no … Wilfredo is the best ever at 122 and by a fair margin.

Obviously Wilfredo, who was naturally bigger as well. But what a fight while it lasts.

Tapia fights till the bitter end but gets thrashed throughout by the more powerful Gomez. A great violent fight in the beginning that turns one sided as it goes on.

Tapia. I think Johnny's speed would be too much.

Johnny Tapia was a highly skilled fighter…just look at his second fight with Paulie Ayala…it was a masterpiece

Tapia hangs in there with his toughness, reflexes and heart. Gomez however was one of boxing's true offensive dynamos. Tapia's best weight was 115.
