The point I'm making is that Shavers being 210 and a bit of a fatty in your eyes doesn't make him any less of a puncher in the real world. Many of these super heavies are 30 pounds overweight, or more.

Ok, Shavers KO rate against bigger men. Lets run with that ;)

The two heaviest men he ever fought were 245 and 252 pounds. Neither heard the bell ending round 2. If we want to talk patterns, well when Shavers fought men over 240 pounds he got rid of them.........real fast!

This is a something a lot of hardcore modernists refuse to accept. BMI is still a thing.

Just because you're tall doesn't make it okay to be 40 lbs overweight. Just because you can still go 12 rounds without gassing doesn't change the fact you're at risk for diabetes, joint problems, or heart attacks. Yes, "some" HW boxers have the frame and biology to carry the extra weight in a way that isn't detrimental to their health. But that isn't the majority.

At almost any point in time from the early 00's till now, the top 10 had at least 3-5 boxers who would inarguably be healthier if they cut at least 10-20 lbs.

By that logic why couldn't cruiserweights like Gassiev, Breidis, Opetaia hit harder than Bowe, Lewis, Tyson, etc?

Really? Then how come his KO rate against people above 215 lbs is 48% while Wilder’s is over 90%?

His KO rate against people over 240 pounds is 100%.

Context is, as always, everything. I could bang on about career stage, overall ability, stamina and a whole host of other points but my time would be wasted.

Briedis KO of Charr was vicious!

Briedis would be a nightmare for all of the Tyson opponents mentioned in this thread, and I think he would beat Ali too.

Incredibly, you got a like for this.

It's taken me way too long, but at this point i realise you are not a troll. You simply don't know any better.

You are essentially saying a good portion of people of a certain weight should be about equal power. We are not all created equal. How many people of Bolt's build run as fast? Why didn't more people hit as hard as Julian Jackson? Why did barely anyone ever punch as hard as Satterfield for his height and weight?

Shavers was a freak. People and fellow fighters of his era knew it. Wilder is a freak puncher as well. Probably the freakiest since Shavers.

Lol. Never heard anyone call Shavers “pudgy”. 210 lbs was actually perfect for heavily muscled Earnie, absolutely no fat.

He trained very hard for Norton, and it was evident in his appearance, coming in at 210 lbs.

Earnie was a bit broader in the hips than average and his trunks sat a bit higher - which “might’ve” lent to an illusory perception of him being a bit overweight for some - but it’s still a reach to call him “pudgy”.

Imagine thinking Shavers pudgy and accepting some of the recent fatties. Shavers was built like a brick shithouse.

Tho he was no Shavers Mike Weaver had huge power to weight. Because of his awesome build people forget how light he was coming in earlier career. He was just 202 pounds the night he had Holmes reeling. So Joe Louis at 200 or just over isn't big enough for the bigger later day heavies? Uh NO! He also famously sparked John Tate at 207.

Please do, because as a fan of big punchers, I made this comparison with many people multiple times and each and every single time Wilder seemed better to me. Im not even trying to be a smart-*ss here, a comparison between the two is very interesting to me, but almost whatever category I look at, I see Wilder being better.

I didn't even mention Shavers. But Opetaia and Gassiev appear to be horrific punchers based on results and video evidence. They easily look like they could be hitters on par with Tyson and certain SHWs. Cieslak is another guy who appears to hit really hard.

Wilder no doubt hits hard but he hasn't fought guys with proven durability. I wouldn't put him ahead of Bakole or Zhang personally.

Only 6'1 with the same reach as Hagler he wouldn't have stood a chance against the 6'5 Tucker, who would have had a 7 inch reach advantage over Breidis who has never been in the ring with someone Tucker's size, Buster Doulas' jab would have been too long, Bruno had an 84 inch reach, his jab would have been a knightmare for Breidis.

Tyson was a far better finisher than Jai, no comparison.

Tyson was on another level to Bakole, twice as fast with twice the punch variety, Bakole is a slob.
