Last thread for the night. How would Calzaghe and Roy stack up against the light heavyweight version of Moorer ?
Moorer was a savage at that weight. I might be going against the grain but I think he beats both pretty comprehensively.
Calzaghe didn’t look impressive at light heavy, so I don’t see him beating Moorer. Jones was fast as hell, but I don’t think his chin holds up against Moorer. Honestly, it doesn’t look good for either guy.
Calzaghe was a natural 175lb fighter but waited until the age of 36 to debut in the division so we'll never know just how good he would have been at the weight and seeing as Moore was a beast at 175 lbs i couldn't confidently predict a win for Joe here , as for Roy ? Well his chin did let him down at the end of his career as he went on way too long and ended getting Knocked out by fighters who wouldn't have belonged in the same ring as him during his prime as he was an exceptional fighter who imo in his pomp would be too good for Moore at 175 lbs .
Calzaghe didn't look that great at Light Heavyweight getting dropped twice but two old fighters. But Calzaghe was also at the end of his career when he moved up in weight which has to be taken into consideration. But we have to judge it on the performances we did see from Calzaghe. And based on that you'd have to favour Moorer who would be too big and too powerful for Calzaghe. RJJ has a much better resume than Moorer at Light Heavyweight but again Moorer was basically cutting huge amount of weight to make Light Heavyweight. That's why he spent only 2 years at the weight and was easily making the Heavyweight limit scaling easily over 210+ pounds in his first fight at Heavyweight. Moorer I do think is a bit overrated as a Light Heavyweight there's no real stand out names on his resume apart from Leslie Stewart who he struggled with. But I think Moorer is just too big and too powerful for both RJJ and Calzaghe.
