Third fight was a draw but first and second Pac won narrowly? Marquez won the third clearly.

Marquez won the series easily but Manny goes down as a far greater fighter.

Manny was winning the 4th until that timed perfect shot. I think he was having success by catching Marquez with single straight lefts.

IIRC this is how I see it as well.

JMM winning narrowly in their actual draw, then deserving a draw or win by a point in the rematch, winning the rubber match clearly and ...IV speaks for itself.

How could the first fight have happened 21 years ago already?

I had it a clean sweep for Pac, even the 4th. Marquez was roided to the gills, so Manny wins it by DQ.:sisi1

Manny could win fights that Marquez could not, even if Marquez beats Manny 3 times out of 4.

I last scored it like a decade ago, but I thought the first fight being a draw was fine.
Had the second fight for Marquez, but it was really close.
IMO Marquez clearly won the third, but got robbed.
And well, the 4th ended the way it did.

Everyone thought that the 3rd fight was a joke, as Marquez was 38 at the time and technically moving up 2 weight classes, again.

Cmon bro, you didn’t have the third one for Pac. Ineffective aggression, Marquez was countering him perfectly.

I actually forgot how I scored it. Might've had JMM by a point.

I think I scored one narrowly to Manny and two close enough to Whawn. They remind me a little bit of Norton/Ali, in a sense, in the first three.

Pac won the first two narrowly. Third fight shouldn't have been a draw. I stopped scoring around the 8th round because Pac couldn't win without a knockout, which he did not get. It should have been a wide points decision for Marquez.

It was because the first two were so close, and even though Pac won he didn't win convincingly. Marquez won more rounds in both fights outboxed Pac who only won due to knockdowns. After the third fight, I saw Pacquiao asking his interviewers if they thought that he'd won and they were like "No." Pacquiao hung his head and accepted that he'd gotten a gift decision while Marquez had been robbed. Maybe, it was out of a sense of honor, or a point of pride, but Pacquiao wanted to put a stamp on the fourth fight, send a message with a knockout to put to rest all doubts. He nearly did too. That fourth fight was wild.

Even though I tend to think of Floyd Mayweather as a dishonorable wretch, he also gave Marcos Maidana and Jose Luis Castillo rematches after they beat him and got robbed. When De La Hoya beat him he ran away and "retired" to avoid the rematch; showing how he usually was a skunk.

Yeah, Manny would never do roids. Shame on Marquez.

When it was happening, I remember thinking that there was always a guy who should have been in the mix with the other top guys but was always on the losing end of bad decisions. I thought that he should have beat Freddy Norwood and Chris John. If JMM gets that Featherweight title in '99 then he's in the mix with Barrera and Morales. That Norwood loss put his career in the freezer for four valuable years.

There's always one guy who's getting the shaft like Pernell Whitaker against Jose Luis Ramirez and then Julio Cesar Chavez. Hopkins didn't really get robbed by anybody but the powers that be put his career on ice until he fought Felix Trinidad at 36, kind of like how they did with Golovkin, except they did him dirty twice for Canelo.

I was in attendance for the first fight.

even I wasn’t feeling so good leading up to the scorecards. You could feel the momentum shift as the rounds wore on.

i think Im the only person posting on ESB who was at this fight..

the last fight was twenty times better. We have never seen Pacquiao get knocked down. But then he got back up and put Marquez down. And then Pac got KTFO..

    incredible.

I really like the 4th fight. I don’t think they did testing on either fighter. It was pure NSAC tests.
