Who wins, Hearns was taller, longer, faster and had KO power but had a suspect chin and Bud has elite skills and stopped everyone at 147

I like Bud but I feel like Tommy's mobility and speed would win him the fight. Bomac always said that Bud's toughest challenge at WW would have always been Thurman as Keith knew how to move, hence troubling Bud's counterpunching style. So combine that with all of Tommy's other attributes and it would be a tough night to win.

Crawford isn’t necessarily doomed here. He had decent power at that weight and was durable. Fast and methodical too. I think it depends on how well he handles the height and reach difference.

Let’s also add Hearns record against 160lbers isn’t stellar, Crawford was easily over 160lbs on fight night most likely 165lbs-ish whilst already cutting down from 190? 180? He’s a former wrestler he knows how to shed pounds, I’ll say that TC is a way tougher challenge then say Benitez and Duran for TH… Crawford would be very strong next to Tommy. Great bout.

Also wondering if Crawford’s southpaw stance would help him

Crawford has never fought a puncher on the level of Hearns not even close.

Crawford has also never fought anyone who had a significant height/reach advantage over him.

This would be totally new territory for Crawford and we have nothing on his resume to suggest he could overcome Hearns.

It would not. Hearns was a master boxer.

Terrence would have to outbox Tommy, I do not see to happening with Tommy's height and reach advantage. Even Leonard could not outbox Hearns twice.

Was he? I’ve seen the Barkley fight, the Roland fight and against Hagler… honestly I think Hearns is a genuine great but an overrated one in a few aspects. Someone like James Toney, Billy Conn, Archie Moore, Jose Napoles and a guy like Ricardo Lopez are “‘master boxers” Hearns was a very physical fighter.

Crawford isn’t as small at 147lbs as people initially thought even by today’s weigh in standards, let alone for the same day weigh in era. He’s essentially the same size as Leonard really.

Crawford was probably coming in the ring at potentially 150lbs when he weighed in at 135lbs, so it’s not like he’s just a natural lightweight. For the same day weigh in era, he’d likely be considered on the bigger side for a welterweight even when he was weighing in at 135lbs, so by the time he was weighing in and campaigning at welterweight, he was probably a similar size to Hagler, not much smaller. Crawford was probably coming in the ring at around 160lbs when he weighed in at 147lbs.

Why would he have to outbox Tommy? At 147lbs Tommy weighed 147lbs and was drained, Terrence at 147lbs likely weighed in the mid to high 160lbs feeling great, that’s after cutting down from 180lbs… 15-20lbs weight advantage, good boxing skills, strength to spare… Canelo the “weight bully” looked smaller then Crawford by a smidge or they were dead even to me, thus destroying the whole dynamic of the bout lol - look at the huge and stocky monster Canelo next to the spindly, wee sized Crawford, just a side “bit” here because hearing how it was a big deal Crawford was fighting at 168lbs was such a laugh.

Hearns was a master boxer. He outboxed Leonard, Benitez and Virgil Hill. Hagler and Barkley did not box Tommy, they swarmed him with their aggressive go forward style.

Not sure I am following you here. Same rules apply of course (same day weigh in for both or previous day weigh in for both). Just imagine how strong Hearns would be with a previous day weigh in ( guy won titles at 175).

If you’re a master boxer you don’t get mauled by Iran Barkley… my 0.2$ Tommy was very reliant on his size IMO, someone like Gene Fullmer would kill him.
