Gareth A. Davies says Joshua-Fury will happen next summer

Neither of them are at the top level anymore

 

I wouldn't go as far as to say that I don't care, I'd still watch it, of course, but this fight was the biggest in British boxing for years, if it had happened at any point between 2015 and 2018 it would've been a seismic event in British sport. However, the reality is that Fury was on the missing list for years, and the fight lost considerable appeal for casual fans.

By the time he'd sorted himself out, Joshua had lost to Ruiz, had to go through the drawn out process of a rematch, then the pandemic happened, and then Usyk turned up and beat both of them twice and knocked the fight right down the pecking order. Joshua is 36 next month, and Fury is 37, with both of them probably now outside the top 5; Joshua might not even be a top 10 heavyweight anymore. The fight is years past its sell-by date, but I fully expect Hearn to sell it as though it is Ali vs Foreman and slap a $50 PPV price tag on it.

 

Tyson Fury will not take that fight. Trust me. It will not bring a purse he would be happy with for the level of risk in the fight.

These days Tyson Fury is the definition of a loser in that he is so afraid of not winning (because we’ve seen how ****-poorly he takes losing) that he won’t even try anymore. Look at how hard it was to get him in the ring with Usyk.

He’d beat Joshua in a negative boring fight and look unimpressive doing so. He wouldn’t engage at all, because Joshua is big and strong enough to really hurt him and not as technically lacking as Wilder, and therefore more equipped to deliver his power effectively.

I’d want to see the fight, purely because it gives us a chance of seeing Tyson get properly demolished.

 

Kabayel should be in contention for one of the top 3 pre Usyk

 

Tyson Fury is retired, genuinely retired i reckon. He isn't going to come back unless something seismic changes, like he gets divorced or they off 200m etc.

 

It's basically the fight for the #2 HW position of the post Klitschko era and far overdue.
Fury being "retired" says just as much as saying a tennisbal is in the left court.

 

As long as the winner doesn’t get even a sniff of a fight with Usyk they can fill their boots and have meaningless trilogy for all I care.

 

I mean they won't turn down £100 million each surely?

 

Weirdly, there could even be more interest in the end, but in a circus act way now rather than when they were both nearer to prime.

There's defo more question marks now on both men.
It will be interesting to see 'who' has 'what' left.
