Toney lost the 1st fight vs RJJ 12-0 it wasn't remotely competitive at all.

You can make all the excuses you want about Toney's weight effecting his performance.

But still how in the world is Toney going to make such a drastic change to alter the outcome vs RJJ in a rematch ? Especially at a weightclass he did nothing remarkable at ? It makes 0 sense.

Toney is a slow footed counter puncher a speedster like RJJ is a nightmare for him stylistically.

I'm just baffled how anyone thinks Toney beats a prime RJJ at Light Heavyweight when in their actual fight he didn't win a round. And this is also taking place at objectively Toney's worst weightclass.

It doesn't make any logical sense to me at all.

Jones was P4P #3 in the world. If you have excuses for him vs Jones how, on the other hand, can you say he trained to the level of his opponents? Uh, no.

Toney was just a 6/5 favorite vs Jones. Basically even money. If only Toney was the 6/5 underdog!

P.S. Toney was not the underdog against Barkley.

 This ****.....again. How about you hypthothetically make Roid wear a weighted vest, weighted ankle & wrist straps etc, then maybe Toney has a chance.

Why do not you read my previous posts. I already said that there is no excuses. However, that does not change the fact that Toney was not in shape for the Jones match. For the Barkley fight, the odds changed just before the fight and Toney became a narrow favourite. In his mind, Toney was the underdog during training camp.

Why do not you read my previous posts. I already said there is no excuses. However, that does not change the fact that Toney was not in shape for the Jones match. Of course drastic changes could happen because Toney was not in shape the first time, so lots of room for improvements conditioning wise. Also tactically some adjustments could be made.

The one thing that he can't change are the stylistic ingredients of the fight. Roy with his speed is a tough style for Toney. The fact that Toney was thoroughly dominated like never in his career (even when not properly prepared) further underpins that point. So I agree with you on that point.

I have never said that a fully prepared Toney would beat Jones at 175. I just say it would be a more competitive closer fight than the first time.

I don’t think it’s a good style matchup, and Roy was good at LHW, James not so much.
Without handicapping RJJ in some manner this fight will probably look the same regardless of weight class.
Toney’s style is not effective vs Jones.

Toney's issues cannot be improved upon to help him vs a stylistic nightmare like RJJ.

Toney is slow footed again he can't magically improve his footwork.

Toney is a counter puncher who likes fighters to be aggressive against him that's where he shines the most.

But the issue is he has to lead/chase vs RJJ and he hasn't got the footwork to keep up with a speedster RJJ. And his counter punching skills will be rendered useless because RJJ is far too fast and Toney can't get into position to counter punch.

Toney had a rematch vs Griffin and he did marginally better using the jab more. But he was still too lazy and wasn't really able to get to Griffin and lost another close decision.

You say Toney never lost to anyone as wide as RJJ and that means his loss to RJJ must of been due to his poor performance. But I'd argue Toney has never beaten anyone with the combination of speed/power or athletic gifts of RJJ. And let's be real RJJ was a bit of a freak in his prime and he made alot good fighters look bad.

I'm sorry I really don't see Toney doing much better vs RJJ the stylistic issue is too much. And taking into account this would be at Light Heavyweight a weightclass Toney was unremarkable at to me it's a no brainer.

Do not make sense to continue discussing. It is a waste of time. You do not really address my points and want just to stick to your opinion.

Which post? You believe that Toney would not be in shape. I believe he would be in shape. I gave you good arguments, you do not address them. The Barkely point you made was ridiculous as I exposed. End of discussion.

Toney was absolutely expected to lose against Barkley.

He turned in the most impressive middleweight/supermiddleweight display we have ever seen.
