Craig "Pressure" Parker went the distance for the first time tonight, defeating Dionardo Minor via UD10. He came in 20-0 with all twenty victories being KO1 or KO2. He lost steam around midway but rallied and showed a decent engine late.
More ready than Isaac Carbonell. (the previously undefeated Cuban light heavyweight lost a UD in the main event)
Just for fun I decided to do a quick look at the activity of the top heavyweights for 2025. It hasn't been pretty. I used the rankings at trbr which differ slightly from ring magazine because it was easier to compare previous ratings(though trbr now isn't keeping their archive up to date) Champ: Usyk (kod #1 rated Dubios in his only 2025 fight) #1 Parker KOd #6Bakole and is fighting #8 Wardley #2 kabayel lone fight a win over #4 Zhang #3 dubois lone fight a KO loss to champ Usyk #4 Zhang lone fight a KO loss to #5 Kabayel #5 Hrgybear beat unrated Joyce and unrated Adeleye #6 chisora best unrated Wallin #7 Ajagba lone fight a draw with rated Bakole #8 warldey beat unrated Huni and schedules to fight #1 Parker #9 itauna beat unrated Balogun and unrated Whyte #10 Bakole not a great year, KOd by #2 Parker and Drew with rated Ajagba That's right, there were 5 fights between top ten rated heavys in 2025 (4 so far). Now there have been some good fights made but damn are these guys either inactive or not fighting each other.
Good idea, even if the rankings aren't the best. Yeah it's a shame to see on average of 0.5 top 10 fight for each top 10 heavyweight, with Parker being 2 of those. I think a bit of a catalyst to this situation was Dubois vs Parker falling through last minute in February. It really set the tone for the rest of the year and helped to stall out the division a bit.
These guys fighting once or twice a year is awful. I know it's been this way for a bit but really wish it would change. As for the rankings, I wish the big 4 belts would just come to a universal ranking system and #1 contender system along with a plan to always be unifying. Ive given up hope they will ever be destroyed
He wants to fight Jalolov or Bakole next. He’s clearly got the backing of Kremlev and is currently training out of the most successful gym in Russia
