In which fights, did a fighter simply appear unbeatable at their weight class?

Hagler looked damn near unbeatable vs Alan Minter. The shotgun jab, massive right hook, fast movement etc. Hard to think of anyone at 160 who looked so unbeatable.

RJJ vs James Toney is another one. To make Toney look like an amateur. Wow.

    Ali vs Williams.

    Tyson vs Spinks.

Saddler of Pep I (I don’t think there’s film but a decisive KO4 of Willie is otherworldly)

Some lesser feats that won't otherwise be mentioned -

Wilfredo Gomez looked awfully good against Carlos Zarate
Hector Camacho was blinding vs Jose Luis Ramirez
Wilfred Benitez looked a million dollars vs Duran
Mike Tyson looked like a beast against Michael Spinks, and Berbick too for that matter
Bob Foster looked horrifying against Rondon

Nicolino vs Fuji… Nico had some unfortunate short comings and against a JCC Snr he’d have nothing to stop him… but against PF he absolutely bedazzled him and looked silly good for a guy who had basically just a jab and a hook. Bad hands I was told to suspect, I agree with it.

Somehow no mention of FOTC Frazier? Frazier beat the S out of the guy today we call the GOAT, Ali had been training for years prior to this in exile, a former undefeated champion, had two fight camps with top contenders and was a mere 29 years old but JF just smacked him around. @Seamus is correct as is a few others here the “Exile” is overblown hogwash Frazier > Ali.

Rewatch the fight - both fighters took massive punishment.

Frazier beat Ali decisively with the knockdown, but smacked around - not with the aftermath of the fight on both fighters general health.

I dunno, whilst the skill to set up the initial blitz combinations was elite, I have reservations about the fight.

Willard was crude - a great boxer is supposed to destroy a crude fighter.

Then the lack of neutral corner and standing over the opponent, waiting to punch him as soon as he's on his feet - I dunno how much weight I put on the destructiveness of the fighter when allowed to do that.

Imagine what Tyson or Louis would have done had they been afforded the same advantages that Dempsey enjoyed?

Dempsey was undoubtedly great but as time goes on, there's elements about the ruleset of the time that don't sit all the way right with me.

Too right. Joe took more punishment than Muhammad. Full marks to Joe wading through hell and winning the fight.
