No he wasn't. Ruddock was smaller. And he was also faster than Foreman.

70's Foreman is too slow and mechanically unsound to not get cracked by '88 Mike. And for all the Paul Bunyan visions of George, these guys would weigh the same, in that 217-221 zone. The very young, late 80's version of Tyson fought all night long, even when guys like Bonecrusher and Tucker were only there to survive. George would not be there to survive and would eat hellacious shots with all the openings he would provide. Tyson hit the head with both hands and punched in bunches with beautiful combs, not at all like Frazier. Certainly not counting out George's chances but I am favoring that version of Tyson.

If Tyson came out running his engine red hot I can’t see the guy who got cracked that badly by Ron Lyle surviving, he’d be hurt and taken out fast. Foreman’s type of defence was better at picking shots off long ranged, a blitzkreig MT combo would overwhelm the open, arms outreached come to fight sort of GF we know (not the boxer he’s alleged to be) pretty quickly.

Ruddock was not smaller he was the same height as Foreman and weighed 228 and 238 in both fights vs Tyson.

Foreman never weighed as high as that in his 1st career.

Ruddock faster than Foreman ? Debatable. But he's certainly more crude with less offensive weapons than Foreman.

More crude than the guy who threw punches behind his head and hooks that started level with his arse?

I will debate you on any other subject but not Foreman as your track record in regards to having a bee in your bonnet when it comes to Foreman is well documented.

The OP is pitting the '73 undefeated version of Foreman. Comparing his fight with Lyle 3 years later is irrelevant. Same as if we used the 1991 version of Tyson instead of '88.

I'm puzzled that the same posters who praise past his prime Tyson's chin for eating dozens of shots against guys like Lewis, Williams, etc, are saying you can't rate Tyson's chin lower for getting stopped when he was past his prime.

The very same posters will not let you point out all the heavy shots past his prime Foreman took in the 90's to apply that to 70's Foreman's chin.

Trying to have your cake and eat it too.

Old Foreman was 50 something lbs heavier, not dehydrated like his 70s counterpart had a brilliant defence likely was on PED’s and never had to absorb the type of hard blows Tyson did, evident by the fact Lyle almost put him on a stretcher and MT ate shots from Ruddock that he walked into. I’d say they’re comparable fighters for power… List the punchers Tyson fought in his prime and list the punchers GF fought in his. Stylistically more then anything 70s Foreman you could hit hard because of his approach to fighting similar to Tyson, Basilio, Patterson etc old GF was like Ali in that he could see it coming and anticipate things, your chin and style can be very similar the best boxer (IMO outside Witherspoon etc) on this forum said it the best, your eyes are your chin.

Why is it irrelevant? If it is we literally have Frazier and Norton to work with? Like 7 minutes of footage ffs that bouts the only example of 70s Foreman fighting a puncher… TYSON in and around his prime on the other hand fought Bruno, Douglas Bonecrusher, Spinks, Pinklon, Tillis, Ruddock x2, Berbick, Tucker, Holmes, Williams, Biggs, Stewart and more guys I’m likely forgetting (ya know cleaning out the division unlike GF) it’s a lot easier to be critical on Tyson with HOURS of footage against numerous contenders and build a case for Foreman because only two fights where he wrecks them count… everything from Holyfield in 95 (7 years after his prime) to Williams 2004 (14 years after his prime) is being brought up, I acknowledge the loss to Douglas as around his prime and his efforts vs Ruddock they’re very similar fighters Tyson and GF both were young destroyer types who lost a lot after there first defeat… the Ruddock Tyson and the version of GF vs Lyle are a lot closer then Lyle Foreman is to Holyfield Tyson by MILES.

Ruddock was certainly not smaller than '73 Foreman. In Tyson-Ruddock II he was 6'3" ,238 lbs, that is significantly larger than George from that time.

You wrote a whole lot of nothing.

If Tyson gets the chin stats from when he got nailed by Lewis, Foreman gets the chin stats from when he got nailed by Morrison.
