Also, even if George was slightly taller, Ruddock had the longer reach.

I'm not saying Ruddock was better than Foreman but people trying to downplay Ruddock's size to take points away from Mike in this debate is quite silly.

There's no question Mike's bread and butter was beating men larger than him and as I've repeated George would be the lighter man if we compare their '73 and '88 weights.

If you believe George would win this match-up it wouldn't be due to him winning from a significant size advantage.

Tyson is way denser than Foreman too, If Tyson is the heavier man (he is) it’s also at a lower body fat and a much shorter (albeit wider) frame. Literal freak of nature. Ruddock fight was such an attention lapse on Tyson’s part, Tyson was just in his head not himself in those fights, those were not good performances and it was a sign Tokyo was eventually going to repeat itself, though it did prove he could handle the strength, power and size of a very big game HW that was a 238lbs guy (much bigger then GF) then obviously jail happened after that pedestrian effort.

I think people have a very fixed idea of what a good boxer is supposed to look like and are too close-minded to accept anything else. Foreman's form looked pretty goofy but if you actually pay attention to his matches, all his ugly moves serve a purpose. I don't even think Foreman was all that strong, it's just he was so, SO good at boxing as the big guy in the ring, probably the best I've seen.

I do think Foreman was pretty damn strong, I mean Holyfield, Chuvalo and several people stated his strength was ridiculous. But It I agree it also had to do with his mentality. He was a lot more willing to roll up his sleeves and get rough and physical imposing his strength on the opponent. He was also not afraid to get hit and was an absolute killer when his opponent was hurt.

This is why it was so frustrating watching guys like Anthony Joshua, he just doesn't have that mentality. He kept trying to "box" smaller guys like Usyk and just wasn't willing to grit his teeth and impose his will and strength. Not saying he would've won, but it would've made the fight a lot more interesting and Usyk would've had more trouble. Some of these super heavies could have comparable or even greater raw strength than Foreman, but they just don't have that mentality and style. Bakole was kind of like that, but he turned out to be a disappointment and is very undisciplined.

For sure, he was probably the strongest guy I’ve seen at his size, but like you said, there ARE some other HWs that had the physical power and opportunity to be like Foreman, but they couldn’t, because it’s not just “be strong hit hard gg”

Thank you people under estimate his athleticism. He didn’t have the years of skill development with top training like Ali did starting at 12 but he never took a backward step to anyone. He was a sheer force of nature.

Expect he wasn’t and almost got chopped down by the only puncher he ever faced in the 70s his speciality were attrition punching come forward types like Norton, Chuvalo and Frazier the two boxers he faced beat him handily and the one puncher he fought who came to him made it look life and death.
