Corey Erdman says both are American amateur standouts, but...I check Mandapat's record and it looks like he lost twice as much as he won, and the only opponent I've even ever heard of is Keyshawn Davis.

He also walked out to Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond, so ...WAR PHIPPS!

Cornellio "It's ChadaTime!" Phipps and Jessie "Super" Mandapat. (get it? Superman-dapat? )

 

Mandapat, a Californian of Filipino descent, when he was a little kid once got to join Manny Pacquiao for a jog in the hills. Wow, what a claim to fame!

 

20-18 Phipps, won the first round close and wobbled Mandapat badly in the first minute of the second countering the lanky southpaw in an exchange with short left hooks and overhand rights.
