Hearn has been banging on about Allen is unrecognisable. Watched a clip from the weigh in and he looks the same as he always does.

We all know what to expect from David Allen and what his level is. He comes across as a likeable lad — a tough guy and a proper hardman — but ultimately very limited, as we’ve seen time and time again.

I checked out some highlights of Makhmudov, and he seems like a more powerful version of Bosh. So how this fight ends depends simply on how much better or worse Makhmudov is than Fisher. His best bet is to come out swinging, unload early on Allen, and hope he catches him clean, forces him to quit, or pushes him into his shell.

Still, it’s an interesting matchup that should pull decent numbers. I genuinely hope Allen wins, secures that big payday, and leaves the sport with his faculties intact.

But having said that, if Makhmudov has anything about him beyond hype, he should dismantle Allen.

 

Does everyone else here dislike the new dual weigh in format as much as me or am I just turning into an old man yelling at clouds ahead of my time

 

Most likely against my better judgement I'm gonna put a small bet on Allen by stoppage.

If he can get past rounds 3 or 4 I reckon he's in with a chance.

If Makhmudov was half as hard as he looks he would have Chuck Norris carrying his kitbag

 

Not to sure how this one goes. Dave is quite erratic and unpredictable when it comes to performing, you never know what version of Dave Allen will turn up on the night. Interesting fight though, should be entertaining.

 

It pisses me off when Allen gets a big opportunity then says after the fight that he never took training seriously ect.

He's never going to be a world beater but there's no excuse for not being in shape.

Hopefully he will deliver tonight in rounds 6-10

 

Itme always the same story. They posted pics and vids of him clothes during camp hyping up his “transformation” and then at weigh in he looks his old self. At this point he will never change and everyone just needs to take him for what he is. At least he always has his excuse ready.

Anyway I hope Dave wins, think it will be a total shootout over with within 3 rounds.

 

Just seen the stare down at the weigh in and Dave is carrying a gut.

Seen him miles fitter in the past.

Tells myself that he hasn't (again!) taken training seriously.

Hope it doesn't backfire upon him.

 

Makhmudov always comes out swinging no messing about that's plan A no plan B for this guy, Allen gets clubbered so Mak via total annihilation

 

Surely Dave knows that this is his final chance; win this and a British title shot is there for the taking.

 

Problem is, if Dave wins tonight and looks half-decent doing it, you know what’ll happen — Fast-Car will be out there talking about Joshua or Wilder as potential opponents. Forget Clarke or the TKV winner; suddenly Allen’s “reborn” and has “put the heavyweight division on notice.” You can almost hear the promo clips being cut already.

It might actually work in Dave’s favour that Eddie’s away for the Boots Ennis card. At least we’ll be spared the full Fast-Car sales pitch. Smith will be the broadcaster of bull**** tonight if Dave wins, and that’ll be more than enough noise on its own.

Looking forward to the fight though — can’t lie, hopefully it’s a real shootout.
