Hope Mak gets a big fight after this. Like Joshua or Itauma. He seems a really sound guy.

 

Mak claims Joshua has promised him a fight early next year provided he beat Allen.

 

hope allen can get one last nice paycheck out the game.

 

Rather these guys work on their English instead of hiding behind translators forever. At least he's putting the effort in.

Another fight where knowing how to play the ref could have made a difference. Is this something fighters prepare and train for?

Usyk is a master at it, he knows how to get the ref on his side and it has definitely contributed to his wins. He could have lost the Dubois fight with a different ref, just look at what happened to Loma.

 

I think it made a difference with the ref, if Allen hadn't been pushing his head in and pushing with his forearms etc, and instead made it clear that Makh was continuously grabbing and holding the ref may have taken more points for the holding earlier.

 

He also peppered Allen with really sneaky punches from low angles when on the ropes. Makhmudov did a really good job occupying Allen´s guard and keeping him at bay.

Allen had a real though time even getting close to his preferred punching range.
