He wasn't the best world champion, he wasn't the worst but he connected with the British public in a way that no heavyweight has since Frank Bruno.

I think hes perfectly rated. Not a all time great, one of the best fighters from his era. What is supposedly rated as to be overated

It was a group effort with him, Fury and Wilder. While it does bother me when AJ fans try to pretend like he had nothing to do with it the man most responsible for how things turned out was Fury. Fury not fighting 3 years after the Wlad fight is the domino that led to all the harm Wilder and AJ did to the division.

If AJ is overrated Id hate to see what that makes Fury, Wilder, and Parker (3 of the consensus top 5 fighters of this era)

Any heavyweight in the last 10 years outside of Usyk can be labeled overrated with as much if not more validity than AJ is.

Come on now, I know being inflammatory is popular on these forums but this is just silly.

Multiple world titles, ducking, too many weight classes, day before weigh ins, very limited schedule of boxers

I can name a lot worse for modern day boxing.

I would just repeat the post you quoted. If AJ is significantly overrated, then they all are.

AJ has been great for boxing whether you like him or not. He has had some memorable fights and got a lot of eyes back on the sport.

He's had a few mishaps and said a few things he shouldn't have but they are minor compared to all the positivity he has brought to the sport.

You can do this same exact thing for anyone.

Parker literally lost to AJ, was given a tough time by whyte, and was battered by Joyce.
Wilder beat nobody good (under 39 years old), and Fury struggled with the likes of Wallin (that aj mopped), a debuting mma fighter (that AJ mopped), and out of his whole career his best wins are a wlad one fight away from retirement, wilder, and chisora.

    Ect ect ect

Boxing itself is not In a good state, Usyk and Crawford the consensus top two are both pushing 40.
The best fights are farmed out to Saudi Arabia.
No real characters as such or anyone with charisma.
    Too many belts, stipulations, catchweights.
AJs meltdown was pretty bad, though

Absolutely this. I'm not saying his reaction was the right one, but it's easily understandable.

AJ was a relative cleanskin as a champ. No police problems; no domestic violence; no 13 babies with 17 babymamas; no substance abuse; no showing up out of shape and ripping off his fans and those who paid for tickets/PPV buys.
