A lot of well known fighters with damage simply receded or were kept from the public eye. Out of sight, out of mind.

One early example of apparent damage was Fred Fulton’s appearance as a guest on Dempsey’s This Is Your Life episode.

Not an acute case but Fred did sound quite slurry. On the other hand, other guests/former opponents Carpentier and Firpo sounded fine.

Of course Dempsey himself looked and sounded great, particularly for his age - which I think was about 60 or so yo as at the time.

The young men of today are not of the same ilk as in Quarry's day. Maybe Quarry would have become a streamer instead of a boxer had that existed back then?

They’re not? Bit out of an out of touch statement and boomer-ish IMO maybe you could expand on it? Jerry Quarry was a violent, street fighting alcoholic… I know plenty of them.

Brother that’s a lot to do with the lifestyle (work is WAY more sedentary) and the fact most people are overweight eating highly inflammatory junk food, being a fatty crashes your T… also serum T unless it’s super, super low (clinically) isn’t affecting you overly from memory? @NoNeck (I forget aren’t you a legit doctor? lol) maybe you could weigh in? But honestly I don’t care that much, I just thought you were being all “Kids these days” but you were actually trying to be Scientific to my surprise  idk maybe you’re right.
