I think people being harsh on jamie moore. Daves got a couple of really good attributes. Pretty good boxing brain and durable outside of that hes too limited to give him a gameplan other than the one they went with against a guy who,s a pretty decent level.

Daves stamina is good in that hes relaxed and picks his spots but it wouldnt be good enough if his output went higher than it is. When thats the case....your gameplan become a good bit more limited.

Surely it’s the story and the fact that he’s a very down to earth normal guy which makes him easy to root for I guess?!
That’s got to be the last of his last chances now though, hasn’t it??

I'm not sure he's got much of a story apart from being a down to earth nice guy (which most boxers are) with a good line in self-deprecation and a sense of his own level. He's not particularly charismatic and it isn't as though he has a heartrending past. One thing I am certain of, though, is that there ain't no way Eddie will let a fighter who can sell that many tickets retire while he can still walk in a straight line.

Allen can beat up on some higher, domestic level types and maybe win a British or Euro strap

He will fight on and make some money and pick up some W’s

Brand AJ only carries on because AJ wants to continue to feed his hangers on, and he can only do that by continuing to be a professional boxer.

If it was solely up to him he would be retired by now.

Enjoyed watching the Junaid Bostan vs. Bilal Fawaz II fight. It's been a good little rivalry between them.

I wonder what the other names were that were in the frame.

This dude was very bearable but I be interested to know who else was on that list.

Reg could easily have disqualified Mak based on that Akinwande impression. I think he may have forgotten Dave was the A side

Allen seems like a good bloke and he is a tough fighter, but I'm sick of these "great stories" and "fairytale stories" and "he's turned it around" stories, "he's finally taking it seriously" stories, "the potential was always there" stories. Not just for him, but any pluckly old medocore boxer they want to re-cycle or re-brand after a win or two.
It's boring, and it de-values the ones who really do turn themselves from journeyman-level to top-level performers.

    I doubt he'll be a British champion.

Let's throw him in with David Adeleye and see.

Dave Allen really does look like a accident waiting to happen, perhaps 10 years after boxing, but his brain cant keep taking whacks.

Matchroom will just cash in and keep sticking hi in dangerous fights. Frank Smith was fully talking him up in more big fights

In think they are a similar level. I’d back Allen to win that.

I went last night and the atmosphere was brilliant, the best I’ve been to for a boxing match. I’m surprised at some of the comments on here tbh. Allen gave it his all but came up
short against a fighter who was better than him, no shame in that. As for Makhmudov fighting AJ ? If AJ has anything left he should win, but AJ doesn’t take a punch as well as Allen and if he gets caught he could be break dancing again.

A blind man can see at the start of the fight that Allen looked pregnant yet listen to Smith roaring 'Allen has got himself in the best shape of his career'.

This is one of the pre rehearsed lines reeled out fight after fight spoiling the fight for the viewers.

All the good punches landed by the Big Russian ignored in the commentary with Smith focussing completely on the odd time Allen's hands moved.

We cannot be too far away from Smith bringing in someone's tough background at an early age having to spend a full 2 minutes on the naughty step for pinching someone's crayon at Nursery.

Smith may have a decent voice for commentating but the shyte flowing from his mouth needs to stop.

A good commentator for me is one that gives the viewers objective commentary and a focus on what is unfolding in the ring.

Watt, Darke and McCrory should be a starting point in standard for modern day commentators.

Then we get the analysts Bellew and Frampton which makes the entire production a farce.

Bellew stated that he scored one of the fights and when asked for his scorecard, he was found lying stumbling his way through with a line 'I am not giving you it'. When he does give his opinion, it is 90% garbage most fights with a strong bias favouring the home fighter.

Frampton was very objective on TNT Sports yet that is in the bin on DAZN UK where he is clearly following a script.

Given the DAZN UK subscriber is most likely to be a proper boxing fan and not a casual viewer, the production team appear to have no idea of their audience.

A great night of action would be enhanced greatly with a professional commentary team with objective analysts.
