I think Byrd can be simultaneously overrated as a HW and underrated p4p.

That said, he shouldn't be given him credit for winning world titles below HW, even if you believe he could have done. From a p4p perspective, his relatively small size, should be factored in to his HW achievements, though.

I'm starting to think we should be giving Andy Ruiz Usyk points for being a fat cruiserweight.

I agree and think we should follow the same line of reasoning with Ezzard Charles when it comes to the light-heavyweight division. He made his real mark as a heavyweight, and that is where he should be evaluated.

He was 22. His frame was fully grown definitionally.

Byrd is 6'2, I repeat, Byrd is 6'2. His height and reach were fully settled, not his muscle mass and bone mass. Byrd is not a similar size to Roy and his speed was virtually unaffected by the added mass. His genetics allowed him to remain toned while gaining 40 pounds within a couple years and filling up his frame and we are also assuming Byrd didn't take steroids based on you believing innocent until proven guilty so thats just more proof he is naturally much bigger than Jones

This was him against Jammel McCline look at his arms compared to Roy's.

Byrd took steroids early in his career, Jones took steroids later in his career.
Both men have in common that cutting to 175 after heavyweight was devastating.
Byrd showed the type of heart and fighting spirit that Roy never did.

I don't think you watched the first Tarver fight.

Did Tarver 2 and Johnson happen before or after Jones went back to 175?

    Weak attempt at confirmation bias.

Jones showed plenty of heart in the first Tarver fight and beat a guy who was in better form than anyone Byrd ever beat.

Just because Jones didn't have to show it until that fight isn't the same as him not having had it.

Evidence of steroids use for Byrd?

And physical attributes are not part of the sport?

They started off a similar size, and Byrd obtained more at higher weight. Your judgements on their frames are yours.

The started off 1 weightclass apart and Byrd kept growing in size and filling up his bigger frame. Just based on him gaining 40 pounds within 2-3 years and still looking fit he has to be a naturally much bigger man, prime for prime they are not similar in size.

I don't see why this is a debate.

Chris Byrd also stated he was usually 10lbs or so lower then his recorded weights… just his words, I don’t know the full story, it’s also important to note that Byrd was very fleshy early on and he had to lose and regain weight using a bodybuilding routine because he was sluggish… I don’t have any pics or vids what’s the earliest Byrd fight on film? I personally wouldn’t rate Byrd higher then RJJ P4P under conventional means but which guys achievements are more impressive if you consider both the same size? Byrd imagine Jones vs Golota? Actually I’d he interested to see a thread titled something along the lines of… “Could Byrd and RJJ’s swap careers” a discussion on Byrd taking RJJ’s place and RJJ taking Byrd’s would at least confirm some things. Toney is a lot bigger than Byrd when they’re side by side have you seen Chris interview Toney? - Byrd is 100% not a 200lber and assuming he fights at 160lbs-175lbs I think he’d do pretty good for similar reasons as Jones.
