Itauma doesn't need to wait months to fight someone like a very faded and washed up Pulev these days but the WBA are just simply mindless sheep at best. He is literally half Pulev's age but twice as quick and powerful. Itauma KO inside two.
Called this. Warren made some phone calls. Smart way to put an easy "world title" on his guy. And Pulev the hustler has "fallen into" another massive payday. Like I've said many times on here. Almost no one has played boxing better than him. Mandatory to Wlad, Mandatory to Joshua.. Now in his mid 40s he's going to cash out again in another "world title fight" it's too bad this isn't 2015... I think that version of Pulev at the very least would have asked some serious questions of Itauma.
Pulev has done well to get big fights your right. His legs and demeanor looked pretty unsteady last time out, like he was a KO waiting to happen. Luckily for him 1) Charr isn't very good 2) pulev has that good jab which can bail him out even at an older age against limited guys. But yes, I expect Itauma to mop the floor with Pulev and KO him in 1, the guy is 44 years old. This gets Itauma a "belt" but what he really needs is some rounds under his belt. After he quickly dispatches Pulev what does that prove? At best everyone just nods their head at worst people start questioning if they are protecting Itauma.
Great fight. Could go either way but I think Zhang wins this by KO, Chisora and Kabayel are kind of similar except that Kabayel is significantly a better body puncher. Also, Zhang will have learnt from the Kabayel fight and he has either knocked down or knocked out his opponent in every fight he's had, even in those fights he lost.
This content is protected I do hope this fight materializes. It is pretty interesting. And I do want Itauma to face younger and tougher opposition.
Good news. I too would like to see Itauma tested against someone who is not old and faded. Gassiev, who has a very good chin, would make for a better opponent for Itauma if he defeats Pulev, which he very likely will.
I'd rather see Gassiev-Pulev. Pulev could be another Whyte, and I'd at least like to see the possibility of a more interesting fight.
Richard Torrez Jr. will face Tomas Salek (23-7, 14 KOs) on Nov. 15/25, a stay-busy fight. According to The Ring website, Kubrat Pulev will defend his secondary WBA belt against Murat Gassiev (32-2, 25 KOs) on December 12 at Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium. https://ringmagazine.com/en/news/kubrat-pulev-will-face-murat-gassiev-dec-12
But what about the Ituama news? Lousy fight for Torrez but at least he's active. Vianello suddenly looks like a better win now that Makhmudov is partially restored with the Allen win and Brandon Moore is looking pretty good, too. He should be progressing.
Ahh ... Regular belt saga pending. Court case by Ituama. Pulev stripped. Court case. Charr back in the picture. Lovejoy wins a fight and gets ranked (again). Oquendo reemerges. Briggs challenges Charr yelling let's go champ ... oh yeah!!!!!!
