    The 40s had some of the toughest fighters in history & the generation itself in my mind were the toughest of all eras.

    My two favourite decades too,Fergy. The seventies for heavyweights,particularly circa 1970-75. Never a crop like it and I doubt as to whether we'll see anything like it again. The eighties for The Fab 4 which speaks for itself.

    For the eras before I was born the forties hold an appeal for me - Robinson,Gavilan etc.

    Considering both the talent level in all weight classes and how they look on film H2H, for me it's the 1960s. Most other eras are very strong in one or a few classes and weak in others. Pre 1930s eras are hard to judge H2H due to the lack of good film and the difference in rulesets and equipment.
