Nice reductionist view of history. Another failure to explain how Byrd is still in fit shape whilst weighing 215 pounds, why he failed horribly at light heavyweight despite never getting dropped by Povetkin 1 fight before and the constant ignoring of Jones claiming the weight gain at heavyweight was very difficult in comparison to Chris Byrd who blew up 40lb over the course of a mere 3 years while not having his speed and fluidity hindered at all, indicating he genetically carries the weight well which doesn't happen if that size isn't natural to you

Similar size my ass. Byrd is 6'2

BTW all that damage came from him overeating junk food and trashing his body instead of starting off the bulk by lifting weights and eating better nutrition. Byrd at 190 pounds would probably be his most optimal weight and when he was at middleweight he never lifted a day in his life. He has a much bigger frame than Jones and had he went up slower and done it right he'd be better off

Yes a mere 40lbs across 3 years on a dedicated bodybuilding program? That’s not really anything overly spectacular… when he weighed 160lbs he was 22-24? that’s a grown man, not like 15 years old or something…then he actively bulked up for years. RJJ didn’t have 3 years to go up to HW he upped his juice, threw on some lbs and off he went within a years worth of time? - Byrd as an adult in his prime (not boxing, in general) years weighed 160lbs-ish so did RJJ he could’ve stayed at the weight and basically followed the same path as RJJ 160-HW.

Many boxers Byrd's size would cut down to CW, maybe even LHW. The fact that he had the courage and ability to throw it down in the most dangerous division against men that literally towered over him and win titles alone makes me respect him.

He looked like a skeleton at 165 pounds, Jones looked nearly full. And Byrd carried the weight better than Jones which is due to genetics and because he's taller. Byrd didn't lift at all prior to bulking up, of course he was skinny. He also ate his way up to heavyweight at first and still didn't look out of shape unlike James Toney, which is due to genetics. 168 was not Byrds optimal fighting weight
