This is what happens when you put all your points into power and no stamina. If it goes beyond 5 rnds he is ****ed.
he was tired two minutes into the first round against kabayel which means he has anxiety problems or he smokes cigs/sucks down alcohol, even at his age theres no reason for a healthy fighter to have that poor stamina.
Zhang is a fun, exciting heavyweight. The three guys who beat him more than earned it. Each of them had to get off the floor to do it. He isn't an easy out.
I don't think so. He fell off after 4 rounds against Forrest, likely due to a health problem or not taking him seriously beforehand (given his later performances, going 12 close against Hrgovic and Parker etc.) but what impressed me was how he was able to stay on his feet and survive. He was totally gassed, beaten up for 6 consecutive rounds and didn't jack. He was a 7/1 underdog against Hrgovic and gave a good enough effort to win with different judges. He was still fighting competitively in the 11th round. He was a 7/1 underdog against Joyce 1 and soaked up shots, battered his eye to a TKO win. He probably doesn't put enough effort in in training/preparation. He shouldn't be 280+ lbs, let alone 290. But I wouldn't call him a choke artist.
Have you seen his camp videos? He hates cardio and he literally only trains for six rounds of cardio lol.
The only thing he might choke on is a rack of BBQ ribs. He starts each fight with his gas tank half full. Or half empty. He needs a more cardio oriented training program or else he stays as an exciting boxer who will always lose to better trained opponents.
Honestly I feel like he's overachieved if anything. Hes got a gas tank of a go cart and the thudding power of a Mac truck, so it's going to be a mixed bag with him. I also think I heard he does smoke and drink, that a long with being ancient in boxing years and overweight aren't helping him. Still pretty impressive him KOing Joyce twice (big miscalculation on Warrens part) having a competitive scrap with Hrgy some thought he won, obliterating Wilder. His losses against Kabayel and Parker he floored both, so it wasnt like he wasn't dangerous in those either. The Forest fight was a medical anamoly, it looked weird what was happening in there so I'll give him a pass on that one.
He’s not a choke artist. More a guy with one trick who has been overhyped by the simple foamers in here. The good heavyweights know how to nullify Zhang for 5 rounds, after which they pick him off at will. You can’t choke if you aren’t that good to begin with and history clearly shows Zhang to be nothing more than a decent gatekeeper.
