From a business standpoint the fight makes very little sense unless there is a really high purse and Crawford gets 99% of it. If this fight gets made then it's basically a case of Crawford being extremely generous. Should fighters or human beings in general behave that way?
An insult, very hurtful. I hate to break it to you but the name of this sport is called Professional boxing, it's not amateur boxing, this means that this sport isn't about who is best or about creating high quality fights, no it's about money. Perhaps it would serve the interests of a promoter to create memorable fights and it would certainly serve the interests of the sport in general but as far as the interests of Crawford go well he is the one holding all of the cards, he doesn't need this fight and having a really great fight or losing to a better fighter that isn't necessarily going to serve his interests.
Crawford should fight Lara/Adames then retire, then he’s won a world title at another weight. Yes Crawford is aging, but Lara is even older, it’s a guaranteed title for Crawford at this point and it makes sense for Lara as it’d be a big payday. It makes perfect sense for both men.
The obvious best fight for Crawford at this point would be Ryan Garcia. A fight that creates alot of money and a fight that Crawford couldn't lose even if he wanted to. When comparing the Garcia fight to a Janibek fight we have to consider the following points. Garcia creates name recognition. Garcia makes lots of money. Garcia can't win. A Janibek fight is worse on all three points. A perfect Crawford Garcia card would feature Pacquiao vs Teofimo as a co main event creating the next upcoming Crawford fight.
