Is Usyk an overrated heavyweight when compared to the rest of history?

Max Kellerman has forgotten more about boxing than a geriatric non-sports fan on their deathbed who has never watched boxing in their life could ever know

He's not exactly wrong here. But not Usyk's fault this HW era is crap.

Usyk has dominated this immediate heavyweight era but this era doesn't rate well on an all time basis. Some are not facroring that it when assessing Usyk.

Guess Usyk will have to stay for a while and keep whooping everyone's asses.

Again, every fighter Usyk has fought as a pro would be a HW in most other eras and all of them would be pre the creation of the CW division

The CWs he's fought were bigger or much bigger than many of the HWs the HW greats from many previous eras fought

The HWs he's fought are much or way bigger than the bigger HWs many of the HW greats fought

The lightest HW Usyk fought would be the 2nd heaviest HW Ali ever fought and the only guy Ali fought over 230 was 6'3'' with a 76 inch reach

And the 2nd lightest HW Usyk fought weighed 10lbs more than the 2nd heaviest HW Ali ever fought

Usyk has only fought 1 HW who weighed less than 240lbs and they were 243 for the rematch

Belly 281 (fully clothed) and 262
    AJ 244 and 240
    Dubois 243 and 233
    Chisora 255
    Witherspoon 242

And he fought six SHWs in the WSB

    Nistor 233lbs
    Modugno 277lbs
    Majidov 235lbs
    Joyce 238lbs
    Brechlin 263lbs
    Fa 246lbs

They're acting like Usyk isn't proven vs HWs when he's fighting HWs who are not only way bigger than him but are much or way bigger than the HWS many of the HWs of previous eras fought

And all the CWs he's fought are about the same size as many of the HW greats of previous eras and many of their HW victims or bigger or even much bigger. Many of the HWs they fought weighed in the 170s, 180s and 190s.

Maybe Usyk should drag Janibek, Bivol and Clenelo up in weight to boost his HW resume to prove he has what it takes to handle big guys

Actually he should just drag some bums who weigh between 175-190 up because a lot of the HWs that size they fought back then were low levels

Why should we ignore this when we are literally comparing him to the greats of previous eras who were CW sized beating up on fellow CW sized or LHW or even SMW sized HWs for the most part?

When I think about it, why bother with it, we can speculate endlessly, we will never know who is the best because there are more legends, the sport continues and let's enjoy it...

But is he wrong? You know I love me some Usyk, but beating Fury and AJ twice and only having 8 or so fights in the division doesn't make him the greatest HW. If Usyk were to never fight again, does his HW resume deserve ATG HW status? His career as a whole definitely does, but I cannot give him that for HW.

Max Kellerman is the very worst sports commentator of all time.

He's always loved certain fighters, and disparaged others. It's the same when he talks about other sports, for example he used to disparage Tom Brady on ESPN.

    He's 100% predictable.
