They were very tough fights but every fighter has opponents whose style and attributes cause them more problems than others

Every fighter has had close fights

99.9% of them lost and the vast majority of that 99% lost in their primes

Beterbiev is 2 years older than Usyk and started boxing at 10 whereas Usyk was 15 when he started boxing and Usyk has schooled countless fighters the same size as Beterbiev or his size and countless pressure fighters too. Schooled them and made it look easy so I don't know why many hyperfocus on certain tough fights Usyk's had so much because it's literally happened to every fighter in history.

It's the same when it comes to losing. If he were to lose at 39-40 + that loss or losses would be held against him like few other fighter's in history losses are, if any, his age or much younger and in their primes, even if it was vs a way bigger, much younger prime massive puncher in their backyard which it likely would be

Usyk parted ways with his trainer after the Briedis fight as he wasn't happy with his performance and tactics. He stood right in front of Briedis and pushed him back a lot in that fight. This is something which a lot of people underestimated about Usyk for a long time even though it was on display in the amateurs and WSB:

He might primarily be a slick boxer but he's often an aggressive front foot one and he's a dog and he likes a fight and isn't afraid of getting hit and that all applies even when he's facing massive punchers, giants, massive punching giants. Briedis hits like a truck and he's very explosive but Usyk did not box cautiously in that fight at all but I think he could've made things a lot easier for himself had he boxed on the backfoot in that one

Max Kellerman to Crawford: ''You are the GOAT of this era''

Like it's set in stone and his opinion is the definitive one

    He's notorious for terrible takes

This is what he said about Jokic in 2023. Jokic would later go on that year to win a chip, go on one of the greatest playoff runs in history, become the 1st player in NBA playoff history to finish #1 for total points, assists and rebounds, and absolutely shatter the great Wilt Chamberlain's near 60 y/o record for most triple doubles in a single playoffs by a whopping 3 triple doubles. The record was 7, Jokic had 10

''I’ve never seen a disconnect like this where a guy monopolizes the MVP, and yet he floats out of my top five at number five”

Even if you weren't of the opinion Jokic was the best player in the world at the time (which most were) to not have him top 3 is one of the most ridiculous takes ever, let alone 5 or outside it

20 years ago, i'd be arguing and fighting. But ultimately, it's kinda pointless. And I love me some Usyk, but with what he's done at HW, I can't really rate him that high. Just not enough fights against the tops guys there.

I permanently lost some IQ points listening to Max and Stephen A talk basketball. Sometimes its hard to tell who had the dumber takes.

hes a great fighter. best since peak wlad. but like you say, 5 guys. and personally, i never thought any of them were great fighters. not hating, i just see all of them as incomplete. and said so before usyk sorted them out. but who else is usyk going to fight who will really mean something historically? ultimately, post wlad will be seen as the usyk era. which gives usyk much historical significance.

During Canelo-Crawford Kellerman was clearly off his nut on some sort of substance. Evidently it has been one hell of a long bender if he is still coming out with BS like this.

Of course he's not wrong and anyone who says otherwise is either a complete casual fanboy or a biased noob.
The bottom line is his resume at heavyweight isn't great , it's good, but it's not exactly Lennox Lewis/Muhammad Ali material let's be honest.

Max Kellerman says Stevenson should be P4P #1 ahead of Usyk and Inoue.

Max Kellerman has quite a crush on Shakur Stevenson these days. He's always reminded me of an age 14 girl by his infatuations with certain boxers. I remember years ago Pernell Whitaker said he was embarrassed by Max's infatuation at the time.

Kellerman is a total clown who cannot be taken seriously. I don't know why anyone employs him to give his fanboy opinion on boxing.
