I mean… wanna bring up bad performances like Sultan’s Austin fight???? Ok… what happened with Fury against Wallin??? How about against that MMA fighter with a 0-0-0 boxing record who Joshua almost ****ing killed in a round and a half???

I think aj fought the more motivated vlad, even though he was a year older.

 

Very few on here think that Vitali is an ATG.

 

Fury beating Wlad was a great example of timing in boxing. Young fresh contender beats ageing champion who is ready to be dethroned. Style wise Fury may have always gave Wlad problems but the timing of this fight and circumstances leading up to it were everything.
Prime Wlad beats Fury IMO.

It could have been, but he didnt take the rematch and retired for several years in what was likely his prime, didnt fight AJ when it mattered, then pissed around and waited too long for the Usyk fight.

I wont make character judgements or question the validity of his mental health issues that caused his first retirement…

…but I will look at the facts and how things turned out.. he had a good career, but a lot more missed potential than fulfilled…and legacy wise, he ain’t carrying Wlad’s jock strap.

When do yall think we will see another heavyweight as big as Fury with his skill set and fleet of foot again?

 

Imagine how bad Fury’s career must be: his supporters have to praise him for running scared from Joshua as he has so little to be praised for.

Wlad reigned for more than a decade. Fury didn't reign at all.

 

I guess he would rank similarly to Fury and Joshua. A guy who was easily recognized as one of the two best during a long period of time, but he was never really solidified as #1. The issue for him, just like Wlad, is they were brothers holding #1 and #2 for a whole era and never fought each other. I see him as an ATG, just not a high ranking one

But in the spirit of this thread I'd like to just point out that Biden was a far greater U.S. president than FDR. While Biden instigated some investments in semiconductors and electric vehicles, FDR never did anything much related to semiconductors and electric vehicles.

 

He's reigned with an iron jaw at the local pie shop though.

 

Saying that Fury not fighting Joshua (regardless of who's fault it was in terms of not coming to pass) was him not selling out is some of the most ridiculous spin i've heard yet on this forum.

 

Wlad has some bad losses but Fury doesn't. The ones people claim (McDerm and Wallin), even if they were classed as L's in a parallel world, would not be as bad as Wlad's since the first would be a close points loss at 20 years old and the second a freak cut TKO. Wlad was stopped badly by Brewster and Sanders and that journeyman loss is pretty bad. The AJ one is acceptable given the age but he let the world down also.

It is also hard to see Fury losing to the fighters Wlad lost to. And it is easy to see Fury managing to beat all the top names Wlad beat.

It's absolutely true if you watched Wlad during his run that he often picked terrible opponents Fury would never get away with and this is someone fighting twice a year. Crazy how many terrible opponents he had when he could have rematched better fighters ...

It's also a good point Wlad never rematched Sanders, Povetkin, Haye and AJ (understandable but he then wanted to come back against an easier opponent), even Pulev. And he only rematched Brewster once the Belarussian destroyed his eye. Wlad liked to have all the advantages and played it way safer than Fury. The Brewster rematch was really dodgy actually.

As for their matchup, the victory was impressive but underwhelming in style. I believe a prime Wlad could potentially beat Fury but feel that Fury would win a series. Wlad's power could give him a victory on a given night. Fury has other traits Wlad doesn't have and if Wlad can't land his KO bomb, Fury is probably going to win. In the end I think Fury is better, yes.
