Why were these Durán fights never made?

I was really waiting for Duran - Joppy II. Roberto was just getting into his groove when crooked Cortez stepped in, on script, to halt the proceedings.

Benitez was 4 years later....at 154. He raided welterweight and fought Leonard.

Considering the list of fighters Duran fought at all the weights he did, and what stages of his career that he fought them, it is highly apparent Duran really wasn't much of à ducker.

When you fight for that many years in that many divisions there is going to be some highly rated guys left behind. Given he fought everyone at 135 and the full compliment of the four kings as well as Benitez he did incredibly well. He had down periods where he himself wasn't viable, as well.

Arguello had the opportunity to fight Duran at 135,,but at that time only a lunatic would have moved up weight classes to fight Duran
