I think Parker got a fracture there, he was capable of throwing back even if it wasn’t anything serious but he had concern all over his face, that looked to me like a tell tale sign of a fracture pawing at his eye, and if so he should be given the credit for staying in there when many others wouldn’t or haven’t.

Could have done a Dubios and quit I guess

Jokes aside, He did seem a bit concerned from as early as round 2

Yup, but Joe's eyes and body language were in the last tram home...better two minutes early than two minutes late...

I thought it was a bad stoppage but I agree. He should have hold. Fire back. Something, just eating punches didn't help.

Man I’m really just frustrated and pissed off with how Parker allowed himself to be basically worn down by Whyte, Joyce, and Wardley, all at different phases of his career. 3 guys he could clearly outbox, but he never worked out how to mix up his offence and defence properly to keep those guys off him. Really just feels like he never genuinely improved much and we kept allowing ourselves to believe that he had.

At least i think I improved a lot of people nights by telling them how Parker was going to destroy Wardley only to be proven wrong.

I got a lot of pats on the back tonight while my head was in my hands.

Parker lost this fight more than Wardley won it. He'd bought too heavily into his own hype, thought it'd be a walk in the park against a white-collar boxer, that he was "levels above" and got pulled into Wardley's fight. If he had kept it composed, worked behind the jab, and frustrated Wardley, he'd have cruised to a 12-round UD.

We've seen him do this before, and even as he gets more experienced, he still gets dragged into firefights against sluggers. He gets pulled out of his game plan far too easily; it must be infuriating for his team. I will admit I didn't think Wardley would be good enough to do it, but after round 2, it was clear the plan should've been to box, which he did up until the 10th. He loses focus too easily. Dreadful, premature stoppage, but the fact that Joe ended up like that against a guy like Wardley shows just how thin the division is aside from Usyk.

I agree with all of that, and do think he was massively overrated during his recent run, but all told you have one of the most glamorous possible resumes where he has won as much as he's lost. And those are the guys that make a division "deep", and an era worth a damn. I'll take that over "knocks out 19 bums and retires after the first real opposition", any day. Probably yes though, this does spell the end of his world level ambitions.

Not been able to watch tonight, will do a rewatch tomorrow at some point

Seeing 90% of twitter posts about the fight saying it was an unfair stoppage. I personally lean more towards stop it early if the fighter looks out of it without going down - for example I would have stopped Fury vs Usyk I

On here what’s the majority opinion of should have been stopped vs too early? I trust you lot more than twitter. Respond to this if you have a strong opinion either way so I can get a feel for it before watching the full fight

I never said corruption only happens in the US or that it doesn't happen here. That's what you chose to hear

Corruption occurs everywhere and often over here

My issue is US fighters having home refs and 3 home judges in world title fights in the US vs foreigners, it practically being the norm over there despite the same never happening anywhere else. Fabio had a home ref tonight and it it may well have been the difference between him winning and losing. I think all the officials for world title fights between home and away fighters should be neutral but all four is criminal, let alone damn near all the time

I call out the corruption no matter where occurs but I'm refering to something very specific and unique in the US in world title fights

Parker took a horrendous beating at the end of the 10th, then Wardley battered him throughout the first 2 minutes of the 11th. Parker was backing up, dropping his hands and had nothing left. There was nothing egregious about it whatsoever. If anything Foster was more lenient than usual.

From being at the fight, the guy next to me was telling me the ref was going to stop it, but I thought Parker looked alright.

Especially considering it was the 11th with Parker in front and being the defending champ.
