Did Parker actually land a single decent punch?

I agree it was an early stoppage but I don’t understand why people are saying Parker was winning. I literally didn’t see Parker land any decent punches. All his shots were either jabs or hooks that deflected off the side of Wardley’s head. Wardley on the other hand rattled Parker 3 separate times in the fight.

If they're deflected off of the side of Wardley's HEAD, that's a scoring shot.:sisi1 He landed plenty of decent shots, but clearly Fabio landed the more eye catching and ultimately telling ones. There's no real need to denigrate Parker's efforts. The match was close, and Parker won several rounds quite clearly.

thats what I said watching it this morning, very few punches actually connected the whole fight, very few in deed...

listening to the commentators you'd have thought it was a Barn Buster, it wasn't!

Every round is scored seperately in a fight.

Rattling someone 3 times isn't going to have you lead after 10 or 11 rounds when the other guy is outworking you and outlanding you.

I haven't yet heard one person claim that they had Wordley ahead.

“Deflected off the side of his head” :meparto:

I can see what you are getting at but the way you wrote that made me chuckle.

The round 11 "early stoppage" was justice for the end of round 2 spitting that gumshield out.

Yes he landed plenty of good punches. There is a reason why Fabio was clinching excessively.

Parker was good but he hit a landmine, it happens and Parker shouldn't be criticized...

Parker was ahead on all 3 of the judges' cards 98-92, 96-94, and 95-95.

CORRECTION: Parker was ahead on 2 cards and the third judge had it even.

So, not ahead on all 3 of the judges' cards then?

Surprisingly not. But Wardley wasn't ahead on any of them. Which is not so surprising.

Parker was very well marked up and Wardley was wearing shades for a reason. Both landed plenty, Parker didn't really have Wardley in deep waters at any point though.
