What's the excuse for Moses Itauma inactivity?

    The kid is only 20 years old. I'm sure he wants to fight. His last fight was over in under 2 minutes. He could have fought the following weekend. They make comparisons with a 20 year old Mike Tyson. But i remember Mike Tyson was fighting every two weeks, at least every month, and then every 2 to 3 months even as world champion for a while.

    "No one wants to fight him" is bull****. There are fighters who will fight him. Some good fighters, some mediocre fighters, some bad fighters. But any fight is worthwhile at his stage. Take him on tour. Throw him on an undercard in USA or Canada, even give him a fight in Germany or France. Or Croatia, Australia.

    It's just stupid having him out of the ring, looking to make his next fight another "pay per view" scam. Just put him in the ring and build his image up the old school way.
    He already looks bored. No reason to make him worse.

    Agree, Itauma is too inactive for someone at the stage of his career who is only basically fighting one rounders, not sure if that is good for his development. As you said, Mike Tyson was so much more active at Itauma's age literally fighting every month at the very worst! I wonder whose idea this is to have Itauma fight 4 rounds per year at best.

    I still can't believe he ducked Frank Sanchez as well.

    Finding the right opponent is a nightmare for this lad. Yes, he's young, but he's also incredibly talented. 9 out of 10 names, including Frank Sanchez, are boxers he would knock out in a few rounds. He doesn't have the experience to fight the top 10, but he's way too good for anything below the top 10. Tough situation.

    I just checked Wladimir Klitschko's record. He won 24 fights in first 24 months as a professional. And he still lost to tough gatekeeper Ross Purrity in his 25th fight. ..... and still went on to have a career spanning 21 years.
    It makes sense to fight often.

    So what if he knocks them out in a few rounds? It's better than getting 0 rounds.
    Boxers who tend to finish fights early should be fighting more often, not less.

    I don't see the problem, unless they're trying to sell all his fights as 'pay per view' main events. .... which they are, and THAT's the problem.

    Mike Tyson in his 18th month as a professional, in his 27th fight fought Alfonso Ratliff on the Spinks-Tangstad undercard, a couple of months before challenging Berbick. A lot of them came out to see Tyson, not Spinks, not Tangstad. But it was still worth doing.

    The division itself is frozen and out of the group Itaumas the one with by far the most time. While getting rushed is a big concern its not just about him theres a bunch of people who've been waiting a long time.

    Tyson has his record because the situation opened up for him. Here its not.

    What's the excuse for Itauma not fighting?
    There are dozens of boxers who are nowhere near a world title chance who would fight him. They wouldn't do well but nor did Dillian Whyte, who probably had illusions of getting a world title shot regardless.

    Those contenders waiting it out or 'frozen out' are irrelevant to Moses Itauma. They are cautiously precisely because they can't afford to slip up at their age.

    It's stupid to keep a 20 year old on the shelf waiting his turn rather than fighting.
    It's cruel to keep him caged up.:lol:

    Fighting often is not a good thing if its not a career and skill building fight. The worst thing they can do is line up cans for him to crush. Where he is lazzy and starts developing bad habits cause the opponents offers nothing.

    He hasn't had a true step up acid test yet.

    Thing with HW boxing is there isn't really an easy stepping stone route, deep end sink or swim.

    They need to get rid of this horrible mentality that a loss will kill your career. It won't especially so young in the current environment. If I was Moses I'd say throw me in the deep end but pay me well. I suspect he will be on Usyk or furys next fight as co main against someone decent

    It's because Frank Warren, on the the richest men in boxing, it too cheap to pay for a decent opponent for Itauma.

    Warren is also over-protective and had him avoid Frank Sanchez, who wouldn't have cost much.
