Nagannou also entered the fight with a serious knee injury that required surgery, no?

But how much did it affect him he was able to fight for 5 rounds and was moving pretty well? Gane would always cause the slow footed crude Ngannou big problems with his speed and movement

He also lost to Lewis and Stipe in the first fight

But Aspinall having one competitive very even round in his entire UFC career (after blitzing everyone in seconds or minutes with frightening ease) against a top 3 fighter who is very skilled and durable has never been knocked out is somehow proof of him being a hype job according to many

The first Stipe fight and the Lewis fight aren't the Ngannou who was the champ. He handled Stipe no problem later. I wasn't saying Aspinal was a hype job. He doesn't have the resume but has been winning. I'm interested in seeing the rematch and hopefully his eye was not damaged.

People can make that argument but by the same token if you fight someone as freakishly big and powerful as Ngannou twice you're playing Russian roulette twice and your chances of getting KTFO at least once are twice as high.

I wasn't alluding to you I was alluding to what so many on social media are saying. Aspinall has a lot of haters, as said, most of whom are Jones fans who are mad at him for wanting to fight Jones and Jones ducking him which is bizarre because he seems like a genuinely good guy and all he wanted was his thoroughly deserved title shot and he was nothing but respectful to Jones until he finally grew sick of being messed around by him and Jones actually being disrespectful to him for no reason. Those fans are using this fight as an excuse to really pile in on Aspinall even though it was a terrible eye poke and despite what they say the fight was very even for as long as it lasted and was shaping up nicely to be an intriguing encounter.

Aspinall said beforehand that Gane was a really good and talented fighter and that people were crazy for writing off his chances and saying he would be easy for him

Me too. I think they'll make it ASAP

As a few have already pointed out, that was a super close first round.

Clearly people are just over compensating the fact that Gane was expected to get crushed. You can also tell Ciryl really enjoyed that year and a half off after the Jones fight. ‘Acting’ he says. Looks like you were juicing yourself up to the gills buddy.

Gane’s sheer lack of accountability after the fight and at the press conference are actually embarrassing.

I really hope Aspinall sleeps this guy in the rematch

Eye poker was clearly a legit foul. Answer honestly, if Tom was piecing Gane up and making it look easy close to stopping him, do you think hes allowing that fight to be stopped. The answer is no. Thats all that needs to be said on the matter.

I dont care if hes holding his eyeball in his hand. If he was close to a finish in round 1, that fights not being stopped.
