Prime, both men. What kind of fight do you envision?

a dream fight with a 60/40 outcome really...

I think it is safe to say that SRR wins a points decision more often than not, though he'd know he was in a fight and in a series Cerdan's bound to take one, even in a Draw Scenario.

just as mouth watering as a Burley scenario against each one of them too, but hard to vote against SRR.

the most mouth watering fight for me then, early 40s, would have been Roderick vs Zivic.

I think Cerdan is the type of opponent that gives Robinson the most trouble. He's a tough, aggressive and strong opponent and good puncher. A very rough guy, a brawler capable of hurting Ray and slowing him down with a body attack. Ten times better than Tiger Jones, but also better than Randy Turpin. I give him a better than fair chance of upsetting Ray.

    Hi Buddy.
Very concise and interesting breakdown of a most intriguing fight, thank you, of which I find emmittly believable, Cerdan was indeed a formidable adversary, strong, tough, with a will to win that had to be respected, Peter Wilson described him as " a well armoured tank " and was very impressed with him when he fought over here, he seemed impervious to punishment, and had limitless stamina, his standing in the pathone of MWs has always been a somewhat bone of contention, very few posters ( from what I have read over the years ) rate him as a great MW, I have rarely seen him in anybody's top ten, I myself have mixed feelings, on the one hand his record is extraordinary, but then you here " Zale was old , La Motta had his number" I am with you, I think he would give Ray a torrid time, much the way Basilio and Fullmer did, whether he would win ! probably not, but Ray would have some lumps and bumps to show.
I like your style and posts, measured and polite.
    stay safe buddy, chat soon.
    Mike.

if Randy Turpin could defeat Ray and give him such a tough time in the rematch then Cerdan has, 100%, the capacities and chances of upsetting Ray and even beating him in a trilogy

    And i'm not bashing Turp

Thanks, pal. I think Cerdan is among the most underrated fighters on this forum. Marcel wins the rematch with Jake if his airplane doesn't crash in the Azores.

Turpin had an awkwardness in his boxing style that he made work for him. The other factor was that Robinson had been having a little too much fun in Europe that summer.
