After Saturday Wardley’s stock has risen so I would say yes, a bit, but not much.
Perhaps it depends on what Wardley does with the rest of his career.

It's quite poetic (for want of a better, possibly more negative, word) that the two fighters who are potentially wrapping up this era, are cut from two of the most extreme cloths. One having the most skilled, amateur and professional laden backgrounds ever and the other, quite possibly, the most least experienced ever! It's brilliant!

    Yes!

Wardley building a really nice resume now.

Gorman, Adeleye, Clarke, Hunis, Parker. That's a nice run

Good video as always Rummy. Bernard Hopkins is an alien. That is all.

    Another fine video.

    It would say yes because...

    1) Anything adding to the defense tally adds. Look how much mileage, say, Larry Holmes gets for 20 defenses, even when there are so many Ledoux, Zanon, Frank types on there. A number is a number.

    2) Wardley is a pretty legit and compelling top contender. Continuing with the Holmes analogy, Cooney is considered one of his best fights for being a big, undefeated puncher who beat some good competition. Wardley compares to Cooney, maybe a hair better.

    3) Not much better out there. Wardley is at least comparable to Kabayel. After that...well...probably Parker or Dubois would be #3, and they aren't getting shots for obvious reasons.

    Yeah, let's see it.

Yes, it all adds up. One more title defense, longer duration of time as champion. These are factors that are always discussed. It's not another rematch, it's a fresh name on the resume.

    Yes but not by much.

Wardley should fight one other top fighter first... him vs ruiz, dd or zhang.

Right now its kinda a lose lose for Usyk, imo

I don't see how it can't. Wardley is a game, hard punching, undefeated heavyweight. He's the kind of fighter you can't totally write off, as we've seen in his last few. Usyk is also about to turn 39, an age where almost all HW champs are retired at any serious level or are on the cusp of losing.

The hate Andre Ward gets where even a guy like Rummy comes in with these messing up his name to mock him and weird AI-generated Ward@heavyweight images, talking about Usyk and ish when he knows damn well the man's not coming out of retirement.

I wouldn't say Wardley is better than Dubois, what makes him more dangerous is that he doesn't give up...

The only knock on Usyk was the lack of depth at heavyweight so of course another quality win helps that.

I dont think Wardley has much to trouble him but hes dangerous and earned his shot fairly by beating Parker.

Yes. Besting a young strong HW who has just defeated Usyks mandatory would like very good. Especially as Wardely is the current flavor of the month.

    No.

Being 9-0 at HW is better then being 8-0 at HW? Wardley is only here because the WBA let him fight Huni(who had 12 fights) for an interim belt. Its not nothing. But its not a landmark either. If Usyk shutouts Wardley its cause Wardleys not that good if the fight is close or Wardley almost knocks him out its a problem. Its just a routine title win.

I would say, yes. Wardley is undoubtedly a top 10 fighter. I don't agree with the stoppage at all, but Ring (Turki controlled) and TBRB now have him as number #1 contender above Kabayel.

But, let's split the difference and say Fabio is a top 5 guy. I think that should always be recognized when it comes to legacy.

Now do I want to see that fight next? No not really. I want to see Kabayel get a shot, but it is what it is, Warren pulls the strings again

But this isnt like Dubious v Usyk 1. Parker isn't Lerena. So Usyk should get some credit.
