Both Gomez and Chavez were absolute wrecking machines and also unbeatable at their best weight class before they moved up. Who would you say was the better H2H fighter at their peak in your opinion?

Gomez at 122 was as good as it gets.

Chavez certainly is the greater of the two, but I'd say -- maybe controversially but I dont care -- that peak-for-peak Gomez was better.

Chavez is hardly the best H2H at lightweight.

Before he was seduced by power, Gomez probably edges this. He was an incredibly complete fighter at his early best. A 100% bonafide boxer/puncher.

Certainly is a tough call, though some very good cases have been so far for Gomez. Both were incredible at their respective weights.

Gomez was the more gifted fighter between the two IMO. But I also think Chavez had a style that could have given Gomez a very tough fight if they both fought in the same weight class. Perhaps it would have been similar to Gomez vs Pintor or Chavez vs Rosario.

Chavez, and it isn't close. If they were the same weight, same age, all that, Chavez would beat him like he did Rosario but in less rounds.

Yeah, because Rosario was just as good as Gomez, huh?

I actually believe Gomez was a better fighter but I can see why someone would say Chavez was the greater fighter.

This is a tough one. No wrong answer here. For me it actually comes down to who's more durable and that's Chavez

Gomez ko'ed everyone in his division, Chavez was hardly moved by any rivals in his.

I always said that at 122, Gomez would win by tko8 but at 130, Chavez wins by tko8.

They were both undefeated in those two divisions and thats what'[s important to me,
