By the way : For the past six months we have regularly listened to Eddie Hearn saying that all heavyweights wants to face AJ but there is nothing concrete ? Why ?
Certainly curious how he seems to have disappeared off the radar a bit, the old TV appearances have certainly dried up a bit Can’t remember, has he been ringside near Big Turki at any of the recent Riyadh shows even? Seems like he might be taking a big ol’ bite of humble pie at the moment.
The Humble One has effectively retired himself and will simply only be back for big loot against Fury, Whyte or Chisora unless a vacant belt opportunity appears with a Kubrat Pulev type in the other corner. A decent non elite British Heavyweight up there with Herbert Hide. Fury was a level above but he was still a level below Lennox Lewis in my opinion.
Hearn saying he’s open to working with Jarrell Miller. There’s countless interviews on YouTube of Hearn saying he should be banned for life. If it looks like a liar and sounds like a liar…
The latest clips I see from the vlogger folk, seem to be saying Hean wants AJ-Fury next and if it's not that, he doesn't seem that sure what to do. I suspect he's going to be disappointed.
He made an appearance on the Mannix and Mora podcast a few days ago and mentioned Joshua maybe fighting in a smaller venue or not headlining as a way of 'getting him out' prior to a Fury fight. From what he was saying I'd expect the opponent to have the threat capacity of Mr Blobby. They'll be looking to manufacture a KO so they can try to erase memories of his Dubois performance. Then on to a Fury fight which would presumably still generate a big payday for all concerned.
I was thinking AJ hasn't been in public much the past year. I'm not sure because i don't really follow the boxers like that, but he used to be everywhere. Can't really blame him if he's stepped away a bit. Did he go to Ricky Hatton's funeral?? I assume he's retired from boxing for the time being. The occasional tweets about comebacks etc., aren't to be taken any more seriously than permanent retirement announcements. And what Eddie Hearn says is irrelevant. If I had to bet I'd say, yes, AJ will be back. But it might be another year or two. He'll return as a 'old bruiser' probably 260+ pounds, approaching 38 years old, slow and musclebound, and he'll fight bums, then get fed to whoever might be ruling the roost post-Usyk, and get blasted out in 1 round. The old Bellew/Oliver " he's learning on the job" (which was never true of amateur Olympic medallist AJ, but is actually true of Wardley) won't work any more. People know he reached his limit many many years ago, did quite well for a year or two, but was exposed as a bit less than the hype wanted him to be. If/when he comes back he'll be marketed to casuals and a veteran/experienced power-puncher, and a few knock-overs of weak chinny boxers will fool enough of them to get him back in position for an ultimate cash-out.
Yup, shows Hearn is the ultimate hypocrite. He’s obviously running out of heavyweights now that Warren seems to have a monopoly on the division, so suddenly Miller becomes an attractive proposition — especially as he’s a hard night’s work for anyone if he’s fit and ready. There are actually loads of videos on YouTube where Hearn categorically says he’d never work with Miller, especially around the times he popped. Funny how that tune changes when the options start running out.
Still won’t beat the time he wouldn’t let Buatsi fight Pascal because VADA testing wasn’t in the contract but then Benn failed a VADA test a week later and Hearn tried to claim the tests were unreliable.
It's actually ironic, about 8-10 years ago Hearn et al. were very successful in having AJ vastly over-shadow Fury in public perception and popularity (to the point where it even might have contributed to Fury's mental meltdown in 2016) .... but here we are in 2025, after all the failed attempts to make the match, and Hearn/AJ at least claiming to 'need Fury ("retired" and old) to continue in the sport at all. It's not even a relevant match now. A novelty, potentially still a good fight. But it wouldn't change the world heavyweight landscape much at all. It's impossible to even claim they're the top 2 heavyweights in the UK now.
Exactly! That’s the perfect example of why people call him out for double standards. You can only imagine how he explains Syke to his wife — or that random move to Monaco so he’s conveniently “out of the country” most of the year. And that whole Buatsi situation just shows how things have gone backwards. Two years ago he pulled out of the Pascal fight over testing, and last night he gets gifted a decision against Parker. Fair to say even an aging Pascal would’ve taken him life and death. World-class bullshitter — up there with the greats like Don King, is our Eddie.
