Teremoana Teremoana's next opponent, German Garcia Montes, is the guy who took Jurlong Zhang's zero but he's done bugger all else. Still, Teremoana is doing his apprenticeship and this guy is probably about the right level for now.
Good fight but not sure Teremoana is quite ready for it. Not saying he couldn't win it though. Teremoana is still only 27 and has time for a heavyweight. Wonder whether they will have him clean out the locals first or leapfrog him to international fights?
Yeah I would just prefer to see Teremoana take on some of his fellow Aussies as they are much better than these cans they have been importing for him to fight.
Sadly, it's the way many/most of our fighters have chosen to progress in recent years. Some of the token international belts on offer come with, in many cases, undeserved rankings and shortcuts to deep water many aren't ready for. But it must pay well.
Bit hard to work out what's going on with Teremoana. Tasman Fighters took him to court following the Olympics to maintain a promotional interest in him but haven't done much with him since. The last time he was scheduled to fight on one of their shows they lined up an Indian who pulled out with Covid. Let's just hope the bloke they've got lined up this time turns up. Even if he goes face first in the first that will be an improvement on not showing up at all. @ipswich express has mentioned that no-one locally wants to fight Teremoana but that surely comes down to money. I can understand potential opponents wanting a premium for taking the risk of being knocked unconscious. Fast Eddie Hearn was meant to be the savior in terms of promoting Teremoana but the last show he was involved in here Teremoana didn't get a start. I thought he was then going to be on Matchroom's year end Monaco show (as he was last year) but that's not happening either & he's back here fighting a plodder. You can't even track his progress b/c the opposition is nondescript.
TF maintains a promotional interest in Teremoana. Matchroom are his main promoters. It’s their obligation to move him. Montes record might not look like much but you need to dig deeper. He’s already got one undefeated Heavyweight Olympian on his record via way of KO. His fight with Kuzmin is available online and he showed tremendous ticker. He was absolutely robbed against Fayfer. I was there. He will come to have a go.
Jazzy Parr back this Friday night in Melbourne, against Mai Soliman. Some decent names on that card - Qamil Balla, Andrew Hunt etc.
Gal's still got it. Maybe one final ring comeback after this? https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1FsWhLJKG5/
Might still be trying to live down his performance in the Grand Final sprint race. Assuming he has actually finished.
