Spoke about this not long ago with my mate, I always thought it was Camacho personally.

Macho was faster at an overall level, including his quick time decision making. Taylor had slightly faster hands.

I took a real interest in watching Camacho a few years ago, I got up to the Roach fight I believe it was, possibly the fight prior against Ramirez there was talk of an enticing match up that never materialised, whether it was in the books or just suggested. I actually commented on a since deleted YouTube video but can’t for the life of me remember who it was, any ideas for those around of the near miss fights for Camacho?

    "Lightning " Lonnie was fast.
But not quite as fast as those two.

Camacho was quicker on his feet and had a faster single / 1-2 combo while Taylor was quicker with his combinations / flurries.

Both were incredible if you like shoeshine pitty pat combos and appalling ring costumes.

The answer is Camacho. Hector (pre-Rosario) was throwing combinations with full body weight and venom behind them and was still blindingly fast. Mel had lightning fast hands, dont get me wrong, but he was more of an arm puncher than Camacho, which made him look a tad faster than he truly was.

For that reason, I have Camacho, Jones, and Leonard as all having faster hands than Taylor. Making Mel the 4th fastest fighter in history, which is still very honorable.

No, Taylor did not throw faster combos.

Camacho in the Limon fight ripped off faster combos than Mel ever threw.

You wanna know who was truly faster between the two just compare their respective fights against Howard Davis.

Davis was able to almost match Mel in handspeed. Camacho made Davis look like a sloth.

RJJ p4p was quicker than both imo especially when you consider Roy actually put a lot of weight behind his shots. Stupid hand speed.

I’d have to lean towards Taylor here. Some of those flurries in the Chavez fight were blinding. JCC found them easier to endure (with his incredible chin) than avoid.

Camacho knocked Limon down the first time with a straight left. I don't know if i had ever seen a punch that fast before or since.
