Why does Moses Itauma target fights with old men?

They fall over easier helping his management build hype while avoiding risk.

 

Yeah it's disappointing. I'd like to see him face a hungry young fighter like Torrez Jnr who will have a go.

 

Cos that's exactly the way he should be getting managed.

 

It’s the hype that gives it a bad look. Otherwise his opposition is just fine for his age and experience.

Though I’d have much rather seen him taken on the Frank Sanchez challenge.

 

I'm a lot more worried about his inactivity. He needs to fight a lot more often than he is currently.

In fairness, it is early in his career (hence why above) and I was really impressed with how he went from a good journeyman to a seasoned vet from McKean to Whyte.

Actually that was exactly what I was thinking.

We didn't see anything when Whyte fell over after thirty seconds so Itauma is still the guy he was, someone who hasn't done anything and is being called the future based solely on the eye test.

However, Moses isn't stepping up, surely there's a reason.

P.S. For anyone who thinks Whyte was anything different. Whyte is liquid hot garbage and has been since before Povetkin bounced his head off the canvas. Imagine spending your whole life boxing and you lose to the same punch in every single fight.

 

Itauma, although a bit too inactive for my liking, is being matched exactly how a prospect should be. There’s no rush, plus the belts are tied up for another 9 months or so.

 

Hrgovic recently turned down a fight with Itauma, probably due to dissatisfaction with the offer. Itauma has plenty of time, but I still think he will take a big step forward and get knocked out...

 

I just think he should be fighting more often, but as he's already headlining PPV's I think they'll be relying on big name fighters that are way past their best for a while.

 

I think that's a fair point about headlining PPV but only fighting weak opposition. I'm assuming that's why they are going after a big name like Pulev. It's possible that Pulev can give him rounds. He's probably more durable than Whyte. It shouldn't be a headlining PPV fight, it just isn't.

My question is, if he was to fight Sanchez and win, who would he fight next? Somebody in the top 5? He isn't ready for that.
