Is anyone else a little bothered that Crawford isn't going up to 175? Ever?

Crawford beat Canelo flowers delivered. But I really really want to see him fight Bivol and Benavidez and am kinda annoyed that he said no. This is the perfect time with LHW being in a transit period. And its not even fighting Janibek next. Thats a fine fight. What about after Janibek? I got a little miffed by them shutting down the possibility.

How should I feel about this because I understand thats one division higher then 168 on the other hand he can potentially eclipse Floyd if he went in and rolled the 3 Bs?

 

I want him to fight at 160 first. Become a six-division champion, then take a flight northward. We haven't seen a six-division champion since de la Hoya and a seven (eight division) since Pacquiao.

 

Mr Marvin Hagler ruled the middleweight division and never saw a need to move up in weight.
What is the push to fight outside your natural weight class?

 

Haglers Middleweight division wasn't the middle of nowhere division. Janibeks nice fight. Is there anything else for Crawford to prove there?

 

Not at all. I'd rather see him go to middleweight and challenge the winner of Alimkhanuly/Lara. That said, I have this weird curiosity whether Bivol will look like a shell coming off of major back surgery and a long rehab, and whether Crawford might see an opening to go undisputed there.

 

He just won the super middleweight belt. Why in the world does he need to go up to 175 so quickly. Let him defend a few times and solidify his championship. Going down to 160 is also a viable, quality option for him if he wants a new belt.

Why would he go to 160? It's a wasteland and he's 38 years old ,there is zero big money fights there.

Exactly, and Crawford has jumped divisions numerous times and has more belts than a men's wear shop.

 

Why would you expect a 5'8 guy who was a career 140 and 147 pounder to move up yet again?

 

So people can weight cut and weigh 200 pounds on fight night

I'll just never be happy until he moves up enough to lose. And, once he has been put in his place, I can then, and only then, pretend to have liked him all along in the first place. It's part of why I never got given the opportunity to become a pretend Floyd fan.

 

If you don't move up, people complain.

If you move up but don't beat every champ at the weight, people complain.

If you beat every champ at one weight, and move up, people will complain if you don't win everything there.

If you win everything in one fight, they complain about the guy you beat and that you won't move up and beat someone tougher.

Someone's always going to find something wrong with what you're doing.
