Who are the two greatest boxers that shared the ring? It doesn't matter their form or the outcome of the match. Just the two biggest names that were facing each other.

    Greb Walker

Both are in my top 10 of all time. Same with SRR Armstrong.

I would also add Pancho Villa vs Jimmy Wilde to the list.

However, in my opinion the greatest matchup ever was:
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Henry Armstrong

    Agree on Robinson vs Armstrong.

Came to add Saddler vs Pep — many, maybe even most, have them 1-2 in featherweight history.

Greb vs Tunney deserves a place in this discussion.

Another excellent choice Wilde & Villa..

I'll' throw another group of legends in who all fought each other... Jimmy Mclarnin Tony Canzoneri & Barney Ross...

As for Ray & Armstrong.. yes undoubtedly two of the GOATS but Armstrong was nearly 34 & past his best.. Hed already lost twice that year.. so although it was a matchup of two of the greatest ever one was some way past his best.

I think Greb Walker is better.. after Greb beat Walker Mickey went on to defend his WW title, win the MW title , beat or push very close some of the best LHWs of the time & then became a legit HW contender pushing the future lineal champion Sharkey to a draw.

    Hi Buddy.
Must say your love and admiration for Walker is very endearing, and I fully concur their matchup is undoubtedly the pick of the crop, of all the dozens of great, really great fights over the 120 years or so, this one is the fight I would like to have seen the most, off to the garage to dig out my time machine.... hope to spare your blushes, but in the short time you have been a member, you have conducted yourself, via your post in an exemplary way, knowledgeable, informative, and shown admirable humility, long may you stay.
    stay safe buddy, chat soon.
    Mike.

    Duran-Leonard and Leonard-Hearns were during television right? Ali/Frazier 1??
All of those fights were way more meaningful and relevant than this fight which any true fight fan (are you one?) knows came 5 years too late.
