I’m getting the same way tbh. I used to watch almost everything but now I’m mainly only interested in the heavyweights.
I'm retired, so lucky enough to be able to watch The Monster on one of the weird days he fights, like, say, a Wednesday morning or something random Great with the greys sleeping peacefully, and a brew to watch a future HOF-er, while eating Marmite on toast
This content is protected People knock Ben but he’s persuaded Sky, BBC and now the Saudi’s to invest in him.
Yeah, he's younger now than Hearn was when he took over MR Boxing, he definitely deserves some credit for his achievements so far.
I don’t think this really means much. There’s Riyadh Season logos over all sorts of random boxing cards, and it’d be daft for the Saudis not to have their brand plastered over the canvas if the BBC is showing some boxing for the pittance it would cost.
Clarke vs TKV and Simpson vs Williamson are 2 good main events for Boxxer to start their deal off. 2 British title fights. That's all they need to do keep putting on domestic headliners like that. Clarke vs TKV will end up being a stinker though unfortunately.
Decent fight that. Not too sure what to make of Williamson' last win but still he is normally entertaining
Decent main event this and good to have 2 fight nights on the BBC in a relatively short period. I do wonder how poor the card will be though if the original planned card for Clarke vs TKV is anything to go by.
In a way, does it matter? It’s not going to be ‘stacked’, but then neither is anything Matchroom and Queensberry have been putting out recently, and they’ve got far more air time to fill. I’m a bit over six or seven hour cards that go on until midnight myself. Two shows on free telly, two main events way above what the Sauerlands have been putting out on 5, and probably on a par with the main events MR and QB have had on regular DAZN recently. I’ll take that.
I posted the below on the DAZN £83-99" thread. I still stand by it (about Shalom) given what DAZN are up to with their pricing structure(s). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAZN will kill Boxing off. The mere casual isn't going to pay for it and when genuine fans, as per this website as one example, are collectively saying "Enough is enough", then alarm bells should start ringing... but they won't. Fighters fighting to practically no viewers. How can they build a fanbase if nobody is watching? Makes me wonder if Ben Shalom has seen and jumped ahead of the oncoming curve with the terrestrial BBC deal...
