It should have been stopped in the 10th.
The reason it wasn't was because this is Mike Tyson. If it was anyone else, at that time, nope

He remembers. He just tries to block it from his mind — but he knows.

He never changed his story, whether it was an interview, a book or a documentary

He says that but sometimes he slips up and talks about how Holyfield countered him, even demonstrating in at least one clip I’ve seen how Holy did so with the right hand. And he talked in some podcast or other about going down and getting up and getting hit again, or hitting Holyfield to the body and knowing he hurt him and Evander coming right back at him.

I think it’s a bit blurry — happens when people get knocked out — but he remembers more than he lets on and just hides behind ‘I don’t remember’ because he doesn’t wanna talk about getting beat up. Which is understandable … who would want to talk about that?

Even after the fight when he was saying ‘I don’t remember’ he said it was the third round. Then it became the second.

But he knows. He absolutely knows. Even if he wants to claim he doesn’t remember, he’s seen the video and he’s completely aware he got KTFO.

He talks plenty about getting beat up by Douglas or Lewis. So I don't understand why this would be any different.
And most of how he described the fight went, could just have been watching tapes.

Well maybe he doesn’t remember the Lewis or Douglas beatings and just watched the tapes?

I think it’s different because he has excuses for the losses to Douglas (he had sex in Tokyo, lol) and Lewis (he was ‘old’ even though at 35 he was a year younger than Lennox) … I think he doesn’t like the idea that he came up well short in losing to Evander 2/2 being that Holyfield was more of a contemporary that he will always be compared to.

Or maybe the beating in the first fight was so frightening that his mind has completely blocked it.

It's funny, but Tyson often talks about fights, wants to see the footage and be surprised that it turned out that way. For example, he recently talked about the fight with Thomas, saying he was surprised that he took so many punches. It was as if he completely forgot about it live, but only saw it now on tape. Tyson never said he was too old. He simply honestly admitted he was unprepared for this or that fight. He said this about Douglas, Holyfield, Berbick, Lewis, Tucker, Ribalta, Golota. He said he was relieved when Golota withdrew; he didn't say he was about to knock him out, just that he had no strength left, just like with Lewis. He said this about fights he won and looked great, as well as fights he lost. He said this about Tubbs, who considered Tyson by far the best boxer he had ever fought and called him a freak of nature. So I think he can be trusted. Tyson is a mental exhibitionist, if he were Holyfield he would be saying interesting things about steroids today.

    Isn't Tyson a bit of a liar? Or a bit of a con-man?

Not sure. That clip is saying video is unavailable and I’m going off memory of different things I’ve seen/read over the years.

He is, I think, an unreliable narrator but for some reason (likely related to hero worship) a lot of people take his word as gospel or go out of their way to say ‘well he didn’t really mean that, go with the narrative instead.’

He’s admitted to cheating drug tests with a fake dick, but people will line up to say ‘yeah but he never used steroids because he said it was only pot’ … as if nobody would ever lie about that or tell a half-truth to cover for it.

He’s actually admitted on a podcast that some of his fights were fixed. He said the opponent didn’t even know it (so presumably the ref or something like that). Any other fighter says that and it would be a big scandal … with Tyson it’s crickets.

Tyson didn't use steroids? Get the **** outta here (pardon my language). Roid rage all over him.

But his sychophants all say "he was a heavyweight at 16 yrs old!"

He is trying to perpetuate the '88 myth, aided and abetted by the lemmings.. and he knows it.
