So NoNeck, I'm thinking a better name is NoBrain. Get over myself? We're talking about fighters. If Floyd is your favorite by all means live your fantasy that he would beat everyone in boxing history. But it's a fantasy, not reality and Floyd himself knows he wouldn't. Maybe you need to take a little time in studying boxing instead of just worshipping your god Floyd. You sound like the type that has Floyd posters all over their wall. When you study some boxing history and move out of your mom's basement let the rest of know.
The first cell phone was invented in 1973. I’m okay with calling it the cell phone era if that makes you feel more tranquil.
Mayweather pick and chose his opponents and looked best against older men, even the limited Hatton gave him a good fight with an absolutely bias ref, Leonard or Duran would destroy a guy like Hatton. Mayweather didn’t hit particularly hard either, he was quite dirty with his elbows, try using those dirty tactics against a guy like Duran and see what happens. I think Mayweather is very good, but he’s not as good as those guys. Pac is lower than even Mayweather, even though Mayweather was terrified of him in his prime. Pac should basically have an even record if you add the Marquez and Morales fights together. That’s not top 20 credentials.
Yes it's called prize fighting not fan entertainment. But surely you were disappointed in the bout? Would have been nice to have had some serious exchanges, some hurtful punches by either guy? Ok we can admire good boxing techniques but a decent couple of punches with bad intentions from Floyd would have been enjoying.
I think entertainment needs to separated from analysis to a degree. Of course people may not like Floyd's style but it's better to dominate than be hit with big shots.
I mean, if we are asking what are the two highest ranked pound-for-pound boxers that have ever been in a ring together, the answer would have to be Sugar Ray Robison and Henry Armstrong, right? If we are talking greatest cumulative H2H ability on a night, then the first fight that comes to mind is Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran, although I personally prefer Ali/Frasier 1. Of course, I have a natural bias towards fights I've actually seen. Harry Greb vs Gene Tunney also deserves a mention, I feel.
Yeah but I rate Leonard and Duran as better than both (but I know your slavish love for Floyd sees him as greater than Jesus Christ in your eyes) só my point holds under my criteria. I understood the OP perfectly.
I don’t care for Mayweather as a person, especially when he was younger, but numbers don’t lie after a certain point. I’m also not Slavic.
Look I respect his abilities and work ethic completely. His career was fairly risk averse imo but every fighter does take a risk stepping into the ring so I’d never call him a coward like some have either. He just liked the deck to be stacked in his favour, was pretty boring to watch and his personality was and is incredibly grating. Talent and work ethic wise hes as good as anyone in my time watching the sport. I don’t rate him TBE though and never will.
I don’t think he stacked the deck to the same extent that Leonard did, and he practically started extended drug testing so he gets points for that. Other than missing weight for Marquez, I don’t really think he did anyone dirty to the point of even mentioning it.
