If Vital stood in the way of Mike Tyson's Path to win all the belts?

Tyson, the fastest , terrifying puncher in heavyweight history .
Vitali Klitschko,6'7 defensive wall with a 80 inch reach and solid Chin.

    Who wins and how?

Tyson probably can't knock him out, but he wouldn't need to. His hand speed, head movement, counters, and brutal body shots would earn him the win in a somewhat ugly but entertaining fight. Unlike his brother, Vitali would be letting his hands go with no fear even if he got rocked. It would be a war at ring center since Vitali was too big and strong for Tyson to force him back, but at the same time Vitali lacked the raw power to force Tyson back either.

I tend to think Tyson may beat Wlad but may lose to Vitali because of the styles but good breakdown.

It would look like Tyson Vs Tucker and Frazier Vs Bugner.

Early Tyson 86-88 With his confidence high and his corner knowing what they're doing, has to be favoured over Vitali.

Like most people here I think that Tyson would probably get past him and the rest would be history.

If I am wrong then obviously history views Tyson very differently.

In practice however if Vitally was denied, he would simply outlast Tyson.

Tyson would have to be on his A game to win, and his prime was short.

Vitally managed a run of form that spanned more than a decade., so he would be able to come again, against Tyson or somebody else.

Funny because I kind of see the opposite. Imo, Wladmir would be the Bonecrusher fight except Tyson is getting nailed by jabs and 1-2's repeatedly before getting hugged to death every 20 seconds.

It would depend on the ref, ring size, number of rounds, etc. If the ref penalizes for excessive holding, then Tyson's chances skyrocket. If not, he would go through hell. Tyson was shockingly easy to tie up and push back, and he was often befuddled by long strong heavy jabs (Thomas, Tucker, Douglas, Lewis, etc). If Wladmir had a strong uppercut I wouldn't think twice about picking him.

    Completely agree.

I was assuming a slightly stricter ref. Completely agree if Wlad can clinch like he has before amount it could easily be a long night for Tyson and then in 06-12 in particular he became the master of distance control and range finding with the jab and crushing it with the right hand when needed under Steward.

The only thing is how Wlad will react if Tyson lands big a few times and if he can survive and in stick to the game plan. But we know Vitali has been cut before and could be injury prone so who knows.

Tyson always looked lost against fighters who weren't scared of him and actually pushed him back. He couldn't fight on the back foot, and in the rare instances he would step in there with a fighter who wasn't scared of him, he had issues. Holyfield 1 is a great example. If Vitali could take a full blooded right uppercut from Lennox without flinching, I don't think Tyson stops him. It'd be a high-volume fight, and I think Vitali would win down the stretch purely out of his size, chin, and output.

I think Tyson edges it, but these are good arguments. Vitali could take a hit and his high volume would be a problem in the late rounds if Tyson can't adjust. Vitali had surprisingly good stamina for such a tall big guy who threw a lot.

I would favor Mike Tyson but only narrowly. In any case Vitali Klitschko would make for a hard fight

Good arguments on both sides here. I think Tyson comes out blazing as usual, but once it settles into a more moderate pace, Vitali's steady workrate would win him some rounds. VK was quite good at controlling distance (though Mike's speed and timing would make this difficult), and I don't imagine he'd clam up as some of Prime Tyson's opponents did. Vitali's height, reach, stamina, chin, and output may see him through in this one. Not super confident here, but maybe a close decision for Vitali in a fight where there are no knockdowns. Would love to have seen this.

It's Tyson vs a bigger tougher Tucker. Vitali goes a bit harder but that aids Tyson. It's not impossible Tyson cold stop him, otherwise I'd go about 8-4 to Tyson.

Tyson couldn't get past Lewis and he's got even less chance of making it past Vitali.
