I'll be watching the fight as the first one was good, but I won't be paying for it. I think Benn stands a better chance this time around due to the fight being at the same weight with the same rehydration clause. Eubank looked dead at the weight last time and was knackered and throwing arm punchers from about the half way point. He only got away with it because Benn is technically shite and was winging telegraphed punches from a mile away. Eubank took a beating last time, and at his age, you can't keep putting your body through it.
If Eubank uses his jab and doesn’t get drawn into a brawl he wins easily. Shows how bad Benn is when Eubank just doing the basics is the key to beating him when boxing fundamentals were seemingly Eubank’s undoing for years. Matchroom were targeting the weakest 154 champion for Benn in Abass Baraou but he’s just agreed a unification against Xander Zayas so no idea what they’ll do with him next. Probably try and make the Josh Kelly fight should he beat Murtazaliev.
That last paragraph really sums up how bad Benn is from a technical stand point. Eubank had never thrown a jab in his life until he was well into his 30's, and even he managed to befuddle Benn with his relatively newly found weapon.
I think Eggs Bennedict is going to win by KO. He caught Eubank a couple of times in the first fight, and Eubank, once again, for reasons unknown, is agreeing to an incredibly unhealthy weight, the warning signs are there. Eubank is beyond his best, got splattered by Liam Smith, and I think everything is in Eggs' favour to win this one. I won't be watching it, and I won't be paying for the PPV.
Given the decent first fight, it is very surprising to find plenty of tickets on sale for this fight. The out of sight, out of mind boxing on DAZN UK must be having a huge impact on the profile of the sport in the UK.
Just rewatched round 12 from the first fight. Man it was sloppy as hell but undeniably entertaining. Hoping for more of the same on Saturday but with a big highlight reel Eubank KO.
Asked a few general sports fans at my work this morning if they’re watching it and they didn’t even know it was on. They’re struggling without Sky Sports News showing an egg slap this time around.
Tickets available in most sections, but the cheapest seats, without knowing you’ll actually see anything other than the big screen – are pushing £300. As much as Tottenham’s a great football venue, it really isn’t built for boxing. Expensive night out for people wanting to impress their fake friends on social media, which is basically what these events have boiled down to in recent years. Actually looking forward to seeing if Ekow can pull off the double more than the main event, to be honest.
£300?? A quick search for me is bringing me loads of tickets, cheapest being £49. Decent seats are around £100. I would go but don't fancy freezing my bollocks off.
There’s no Sky this time around, and most of the genuine boxing media have been banned by Turki. A work colleague (watches a bit of boxing, goes and watches every Callum Simpson fight) asked me this morning if the fight was this year when he overheard me talking about it. When I said it was this weekend he replied "I've not seen it mentioned anywhere"
Eubank Snr insisted on saying something on Talksport live now. After listening to his poetic rabble for 3 mins - he has lost the plot.
