How can they afford to give AJ that much money?

As long as there are fake boxing fans, fights like this will happen because they watch things like this, Joshua is a fraud and a hypocrite who stabbed his fans in the back...

This is a fake fight announcement. They will pull it and announce Jake Paul fighting an ex MMA fighter instead.

AJ would not agree to a pull his punches. We saw that in the Ngannau fight.

Exactly and it annoys me that people take the bait every time. Unless his fake fights have given him insane levels of delusion not even Jake Paul can seriously fancy himself in an actual fight against Joshua or any other genuine boxer with a genuine career.

Who else but Joshua? He agreed to fight Paul, in modern boxing history Joshua is the only former champion to stoop to this level, the worst champion ever...

If he brutally KO's Jake Paul, he's defending the reputation of the sport, and should be considered a hero!

Muhammad Ali fought an exhibition match against a Japanese wrestler during his career. Lets please not pretend that AJ is the only former champion to engage in exhibition cash grabs during his career. AJ also already fought Ngannou.

If AJ does return and face a real boxer then he is on the over 35 vets circuit anyway. No one takes him seriously after what DDD did to him.

I have zero interest in watching AJ v Paul, but have zero problems with it happening, even if it turns out to be a choreographed WWF type affair. AJ is a prize fighter and that is a massive prize. To paraphrase Mike Dokes, making the most dollars makes the most sense. Legacy? Legacy don't secure your children's future

I can see that argument, but on the other hand, if he treats Paul like Nganou (spelling?) one could argue that he is redeeming it and the influencer vs pro template may thankfully fade into well-deserved obscurity. Sure, turns out Joshua was not as good as the hype, but he's certainly good enough for this job. If it turns out to be a dance rather than a fight, I'll never mention his name again. It'll be as if Joshua never existed.

I don't see the justification for saying he needs to beat Jake Paul like someone needed to beat Ngannou post-Fury.
No one in their right mind thinks Jake Paul is better than any ranked HEAVYWEIGHT boxer.

Ngannou had given Fury a hard fight and is an all-time great MMA heavyweight striker, so there was plausible reason pre-Fury, nevermind post-Fury, posed some sort of 'threat'.

Jake Paul is literally a celebrity/influencer-turned-boxer, boxing at a very low level, and he's 6'1 and about 195 pounds in most of his fights, fighting smaller guys. No one thinks he might be as good as a 255 pound heavyweight boxer, a former holder of world titles, who's not well over 50 years old.

I'll believe this fight when I see it.

But he's an utter coward if he does this. It's the ultimate bully scumbag move.
This is a SHW who utterly dwarfs Paul (really a bloated SMW/LHW).
This is a trained 'career' boxer who went through the Olympic program.

It wasn't too long ago Paul was fighting the 5'10 wrestler (and UFC's worst striker ever) Ben Askren and people weren't sure he was going to win.

It was fair that Paul was fighting old MMA fighters and then ancient champion boxers because he literally trained up from being a Youtuber and never fought in the ams or on the pro circuit.

This actually only enhances Paul if you need a mismatch this incredible to get a conclusive win over him.
